I saw this on Facebook and went to check my registration status, sure it was fine because I voted recently, but I put in the info and it said I’m not registered

PLEASE, especially if you’re a Black voter, check your registration status at vote.org

Know your status

Does your last name sound anything like Lopez, Martinez, or Rodriguez? Mine does. When I saw this post I checked my voter registration status online with my state. Despite registering just three months ago, I was no longer registered to vote, and I did not receive my ballot. If you live in a mail-in voting state and you didn’t get your ballot, contact your county election official/county clerk for a replacement.

Make sure you check with your state’s voting site as well. I just had the shit scared out of me because that website said I was registered, but when I checked my state’s site (and made sure I had the right county selected) it said I was registered.

It’s worth checking your state’s site every few months anyway (especially when any election is coming up).

Texas is definitely purging voters. They’re also making it harder to re-register if they purged you. I hate that this is true, but POC will need to check and check frequently to stay registered in Texas.

College students, too. In the 2014 election, I had to vote in San Marcos, and I can’t tell you how many Texas State students were turned away because they didn’t cross all the t’s and dot all the i’s on getting their registration transferred and current.

IMPORTANT Y’ALL.

Republicans are openly saying they are trying to restrict voting, and you can be damn sure the people they want to suppress are poc. So make sure you and you’re family are registered, esp if you live in a red state with republican controlled state houses.

I looked into this on Twitter and everyone is like “learn to accept criticism not everyone is going to like your work.” But the thing is, this poor girl didn’t even say she DIDNT like her books or that they were BAD. Like she said “this isn’t right for this list/setting” that’s not even an insult. This is what people are talking about when they say white women be like weaponizing their whiteness and fragility. This is so ugly.

These dudes are fucking legit.  They don’t just show up one day in court, either, they actually make friends with the kids and let them know they have a support system and that there are people in the world who care about them and will always have their back.  And less important, but also cool, is that the few times a couple of them have come into my cafe, they’ve been super friendly and polite and when I told one of the guys that I noticed his Bikers Against Child Abuse patch and wanted him to know how awesome I thought he was because of it, he got kind of shy and blushed and said, “The kids are the awesome ones, we just let them know they’re allowed to be brave.”

The source is long, but so, so good. These men and women are available in 36 states, 24 hours a day to stand guard at home, in court, at school, even if the child has a nightmare. Many of them are survivors of childhood abuse as well, and know what it’s like to feel scared and alone.

Guys? This post changed my life. I saw this post. Forever ago. And thought it was only in america… and wished desperately that they could help me. But then I saw it again, during a bad episode, and checked their site. They aren’t just in the USA

They’re in Canada as well and probably other countries. I met and talked with a native guy who runs the place near me. His name is Shaman. I got in, and I’m considered a BACA child now. Despite being 17, turning 18 when I talked to them. They spent time with me when my abuser was over, they gave me therapy resources. They give you something called a ‘level 1′ where they go to your house with as many bikers as they can, i shit you not a solid 20-40 bikers came from even out of province, and met me. I got to choose my biker name and I got a vest with patches on it and my name on it. They all hugged a Teddybear before giving it to me, and told me if I ever felt the BACA bear was running out of love, to give them a call and they’d refill it for me, and then I got a ride on one of their bikes. Just a day or so ago I went to an annual party with them and they we ate food one of them cooked and had a lot of laughs. 

I’ve never felt as loved as I did being a part of the BACA family. They also gave me dog tags with the names, and phone numbers of my 2 workers.  So I can call them whenever I feel scared. 

BACA is an absolutely wonderful group that will do everything in it’s power to help any child whos been abused. 

And it doesn’t end when you’re 18 either. As long as you get in contact/get your level 1 before you’re 18? you’re ALWAYS a BACA kid. I’m 18 now and they still invite me to parties, ask me if I’m okay, and are there for me. They’re still trying to find me resources for therapy. 

BACA has changed my fucking life. 

I hope you all can read this, and reblog it knowing from someone who fucking been with them, that they are absolutely amazing.

This week my meal prep was taco soup! It makes 7 servings (at least for what I typically eat at lunch):

I made it in the crock pot cooked on low for 6 hours. You just put the chicken in whole (raw) and dump everything else in, stir like 2-3 times during the process and at the end shred the chicken with a fork (it should fall apart pretty easily). 

It also freezes well, so if you make the whole recipe you can freeze half of it for next week!

y’all would think the FIG was like “automatic 10-point deduction” from the way people discuss this 

Some people really only see unfairness when it’s directed at USA I guess

…along with the Huang, Komova I, Seitz, Li Ya, Scheder, Teza I and II, Mo, Liu (Xuan), Okino, and a million other skills that were either unjustly rated or are now deducted so heavily that they’re virtually obsolete…and this is just what I can think of off the top of my head during dinner.

I think it’s worse because the FIG tried to justify it for “safety” reasons even though no one else is even attempting it and her’s is very safely done. If they just didn’t try to justify it, it would have been better. 

ALSO, totally agree with all skills that have been submitted in categories that have D-value caps because that is very much also an injustice!!
