The stakes are very high for the police. The tear gas in September caused the movement to grow. I witnessed several instance of protestors and police working closely to keep the peace.

The students, standing atop the barricades gave as good as they got in the exchange. But there was a line they would not cross. They stayed behind the barricades and when the conversation grew too intense they asked the police to step in.
