2007 was the first year of Make Music New York, founded by Aaron Friedman, inspired by Paris’s “Fete de la Musique,” which Aaron experienced in 2006.

In our inaugural year, there were 560 performances, a feature in the New York Times, and a performance of In C at Cornelia Street Cafe -- among so many others!

This post is the first of many in a ten-week long social media retrospective using material from the last ten years of Make Music New York. Contribute your stories, images, sounds, and memories by contacting us via this Tumblr, or other social media channels.
