2007 was the first year of Make Music New York, founded by Aaron Friedman, inspired by Paris’s “Fete de la Musique,” which Aaron experienced in 2006.
In our inaugural year, there were 560 performances, a feature in the New York Times, and a performance of In C at Cornelia Street Cafe -- among so many others!
This post is the first of many in a ten-week long social media retrospective using material from the last ten years of Make Music New York. Contribute your stories, images, sounds, and memories by contacting us via this Tumblr, or other social media channels.
Pictures posted as part of this retrospective are curated from our Flickr galleries. Please feel free to check them out!
If you have not already signed up for MMNY 2016, you have until April 29 to finalize your performance plans! Don’t wait and sign up ASAP. See http://www.makemusicny.org for more info.
