Laura: NSFW or minors or anyone really, writes Death Note fanfic and non-DN things, certified 'pretty good wife material' by a stranger, Jack of all trades and a master of none. RRMS but managing it quite well. Only mentioning it because sometimes I have to disappear for a while. Then again, everyone has to sometimes don't they?

Ultra cool thing is that The Hinterland Doctrine (TWS) Part 1 was recommended and added to the International Fanworks Day 2022 - Classic Fic Recs Collection on Archive of Our Own!

I was sure that it was a mistake but apparently not, so thank you so much to whoever recommended it. ♥️

Also, just for the sake of cute, here are my woofles saying hi! We were stuck inside for most of the other day because of the storms, and it turns out that baby Selkie has 2 expressions: judging concern that's probably philosophical in a Schopenhauer sort of way, and happy. Noodle is a blurry polar bear sweetheart and hopes that they make you smile. Much love xxx

Further to the beautiful art by @nofruitforyou here are the photos of the Gieves & Hawkes suit (the model has a different physique and the suit is untailored here so it looks very boxy imo but who cares? xD) and the Charvet silk jacquard tie. All yours for a stupid amount of money.

N.B. I have a problem with researching and moodboarding absolutely everything, and yes it's unnecessary and strange but it helps me, please don't judge too harshly. xD

L looks sincerely pissed off in his oatmeal suit by Gieves & Hawkes, white shirt, and teal blue silk-jacquard tie by Charvet. I can’t see his belt in detail but I’m sure that it’s exquisite. I love that suit and know it intimately. I had it tailored for him because it wasn’t perfect enough but, of course, he didn’t notice. He rarely wore it, but when he did I just could not look at anything else but him. I mean the suit. […] He looks like an incredibly expensive and elegant hero confronted by evil androids in black suits— me included — and today feels as special as a birthday.

Hey! You’re one of my favorite fanfic authors, and I’ve read Those twice now and plan to do a reread. Just wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas Eve and Merry Christmas if you celebrate them! And hope you have a great 2022 :)

Thank you so much, and a very Merry Christmas to you too! ❤️ Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates it. Enjoy the holiday spirit anyway. It's just a lovely time of year. Lots of love xxx ✨

I honestly don’t know how to tell you these shocking facts but fucked up things in stories were not invented by AO3

I literally saw that someone replied to a post that talked about content in public libraries saying that that content should be regulated as well and Im just like when your statement can’t be distinguished from something a Southern Baptist pastor would say you really need to take a hard look at what kind of belief system you’ve let yourself fall into.

When fiction deals with difficult material (as it almost inevitably will) and it’s available for public consumption, you have the choice to ban anything controversial or teach people from a young age how to analyse and interpret literature and media. Only the second option builds valuable thinking skills and is actually possible.

Authoritarianism / fascism / the police state / late-stage capitalism really really want a population that is unable to analyze and interpret the narratives they are handed.

Just throwing that out there.

Quick lil blah to thank someone who left a guest review asking if I'm ok because I haven't updated for 3 months (really?). I don't know if you'll see this but thank you, I'm ok! I hope you're ok too 💚

Hello Laura, I just wanted to thank you for ALL your works (I really, really love TWS but A Cure for Love is also a favourite of mine), you are so talented and I hope you're aware of that. Your way of writing is really involving. I think I'm in love with your mind, ha!

Can't wait to see the next update of Those! I know that the plot it's only up to you, but I really will defenestrate myself if you're going to kill Larsen. Or Light. Whatever. Luckily I live on ground floor.

I'm Italian, so forgive my coarse english.

Wish you the best :*

Thank you so much! Oh my God, you're funny. I can't promise anything at all but I'm glad that you live on the ground floor. I'm English and my Italian is so terrible/basically nonexistent it'd make you laugh or make you want to put scotch tape over my mouth. I have much to be forgiven for but you don't. <3 My mind and the rest of me loves you.

after reading hinterland doctrine, I'm so amazed and i can't believe i could read something amazing for free and it is one of the best thing ive ever read. thank you for writing. what are some other fics/novel/book you'd recommend (published or fan fiction)?

Fffffff lovely people will you have pity on me with your swords of kindness??? Thank you. <3 I don't read much fanfiction now unfortunately, but with my dying breath I'd rec @edmondia . Their work got me into writing fanfiction after seeing what could be done with it as a genre. She's also amazing and lovely person. There are so many brilliant fanfic writers out there.

In terms of books, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami is great imo. He has a beautifully clean style of writing (unlike me), a bit surreal, totally not safe and cozy, and he’s just so gifted at writing about the human condition and unique characters. If you’ve read it already then let me know and I’ll rec something else. xxx

hi, i started reading your story recently and hoooly shit im loving it. i was wondering if patrick bateman or like in general the narrative style of american psycho was an inspiration for it?

Hi! It definitely was in the first few chapters but not so much once I'd kind of settled in, so to speak. The awful person first person narration, yuppies, and satire was a big inspiration, yes. xxx
