Luke was biting his bottom lip as he stood off to the side. After a few minutes his hands were intertwined with Guy’s. Nervously, he glanced towards the blond. His hair falling in his face as he nodded once.
He then decided to go back to the original topic. “…Did you still want to come with me?” Looking down at Layla, he noted her new ponytail. “I was going to go get some of my stuff from Baticul.”

“We could probably get things sorted quicker if I do.” Guy replied, “Layla’s usually with her tutor pretty early so I’m sure they’d understand if she has to stay longer.” Layla nodded in agreement to his words, fiddling with her hair until Guy sighed and untied it.

Resting his head on Luke’s shoulder, he yawned again. “She’s nearly as picky as you..”

Sync jolted upright hearing Guy at the door. He’d been about to rummage through his bag. Trying to calm his breathing, he slowly walked to the door. He did want to open it and also didn’t. Opening the door a bit, Sync leaned against the frame. Frowning tiredly, he nodded once but then shook his head. “Wha–what is it…” His voice still sounded sad.

“I just..” The wave of relief that flooded him momentarily made him forget why he was worried, but seeing the markings on Sync’s skin reminded him. “I shouldn’t have brought up all of that..” He replied, keeping his voice low as to not draw unwanted attention.

“I wanted to apologise...” Leaning against the frame himself, Guy soon realised he was starting to turn red. “Also... you called me pretty..”

Avatar
Grabbing his neck where Guy bit him, Luke’s face was flushed. Pouting, didn’t know what to do or say. “Yeah, but…” What did you tell a child about your bedroom activities? He really had no idea how to parent. He found out fairly young that his father was a horrible excuse for a parent. His mother was another story, she would have done more with him if she weren’t so sickly.
Turning back to Layla, Luke knelt down in front of her. “Did you come by for a reason, or just to see us and get grossed out by your dad?” That was still very weird for him to say aloud…

“I wanted to see if you were awake yet” Despite her previous expression, she quickly switched to an almost beaming, genuine smile - seemingly having taken quickly to Luke’s presence in her and Guy’s lives now.

Her eyes shot above Luke’s head as Guy’s shadow loomed over to pull Luke back to his feet, then passed to throw a pile of laundry into the basket placed across from his room. “I guess we are, now.” The blond yawned, crouching behind Layla to comb her hair back with his fingers before tying it out of her way.

Luke would need to get used to the sudden promotion to parent, and Guy could read his uncertainty immediately.

“Hey..” The reassurance in his tone was clear as he spoke, and getting to his feet he reached for Luke’s fingers. “You’ll be fine...”

“I–I guess…” Sync just hated the looks. His fellow God Generals always used to look at them with disgust mostly, aside from Asch and Arietta. The memory of how he got them was, not fun. So, it overpowered that feeling of them just being mistaken as tattoos or pretty.
Sync’s tone had saddened slightly. He remained sitting next to Guy who was now just laying on the floor beside him. They really were just a mess, both of them. “I wish they were just tattoos.” Not realizing he said that aloud, he blushed. Attempting to put his overcoat back on again. “Anyway, you’re the one whose pretty so just shut up.” Again. He wasn’t being careful with his words. Really blushing now, Sync got up and ran out of the room around Guy, up to his bedroom. Locking the door as he just slid to the floor and tried to focus on breathing.
Talking about his glyphs made him think of how he got them. Of the volcano. Of his creation. When Van saved him that time. Everything sort of collided together in his mind. Holding his head, he tried to calm his mind. Usually there was…one thing that worked…

Wait, what was that? Guy jerked up, watching in confusion as Sync bolted. Something was definitely off. Ignoring the fact Sync called him... pretty? (which was odd in itself), he usually seemed to choose fight over flight, and his voice seemed... sad?

Maybe mentioning the glyphs wasn’t a good idea.. he thought as he made his way back upstairs. Finding Sync’s door locked shouldn’t have made his stomach jolt but..

“Sync? Hey, are you alright..?”

“I just woke up…I wasn’t leaving you, unless you decided not to tag along…” As much as Luke didn’t want to cause any more trouble or pain to Guy, he didn’t want to tell him to stay. He wanted Guy. He wanted to be with him and to do things with him. Luke just felt ultimately guilty that Guy was suffering so much because of him.
Back to the current predicament though, he really had no idea how to be a parent. “T–Tell…Layla that you kicked me in the neck repeatedly out of bed last night.” Gulping, the redhead laughed nervously. Dear Lorelei, he hoped Guy had some damn clothes on behind him.

Hot breath passed over Luke’s neck as Guy yawned, nuzzling against his shoulder. “Mmm.. tell her what, now?” He was genuinely confused until Layla spoke up - pointing to the bruises on Luke’s skin.

“What are theeessee?” She repeated, her voice amused by the older redhead’s discomfort.

Guy purred, the noise seeming to erupt from deep in his chest. Lifting his head enough to peek at his daughter, he grins against Luke’s skin. “Now Luke, what have I said about lying?” he chirped, “I didn’t kick him out, he’s just shy because I tried to eat him~” Just to make his point, he nipped at Luke’s neck before retreating back to tidy up a little - Layla’s scrunched up nose not going unnoticed first..

“Ew..”

“H–hey…” Suddenly very aware of what she was talking about, Luke gulped. Uncertain of what to do or say, he rubbed the back of his tousled hair. “I–I got kicked out of bed…a few times…” Sort of anyway, it was the story he was going to go with. “Do you need Guy for somethin’?” Turning back to the sleeping blond, he was surprised actually that he was still out of it. Then again after last night maybe he just tired himself out.
He probably needed to get going on a ferry anyway. He’d have to go to Chesidonia from here and then to Baticul. Granted going home to his mother with these bruises just made him not want to go. I need a full down shirt…and a scarf or somethin’…

Cocking an eyebrow, the girl tilted her head as she stared up at him. She was young, but she’d been told she was pretty clever for her age - easily seeing through Guy when he’d been trying to hide things - so the clear evidence in front of her that something was going on wasn’t going to be ignored.

“You got kicked in the neck?” she asked, clearly sceptical of his answer until the muffled moan from behind Luke seemed to snap her out of the almost trance like state she was in as she stared.

“If you’re leaving, at least give me a kiss first.” Guys voice yawned - arms sliding around Luke’s waist from behind, then he seemed to notice Layla.

“Oh, hey, sweetie.”

“Yeah, I probably should have just said to hell with a room.” Sync could definitely say he lived in here more than his bedroom. “I meant your clothing choice.” His words weren’t hostile, rather just spoken tiredly. He really didn’t intend to make the other feel bad in any way. “If that’s what comfortable is then we must be kings at it.”
The last bit made him pause a bit. No questions about the glyphs? That surprised the green haired replica. His coat fell into his lap, as he tilted his head. Looking over at Guy curiously. But then he caught sight of what he was trying not to look at, Guy’s exposed skin. Turning his head away quickly, Sync pouted. “Well, good. ‘Cause I don’t really like answering questions much.”

Sighing, he closed his eyes and let himself fall to his side.“Well, I was planning on sleeping.” he yawned.

Sync hated questioning. He knew this already, so it wasn’t difficult to keep his curiosity to himself - but he did hope that maybe things would relax between them enough that he wouldn’t have to argue for answers. “Unless anything serious comes up, you can relax. If I didn’t know, I’d think they were tattoos. They’re... kind of pretty..”

Talking to Sync with the absence of hostility was unusual, but definitely something Guy hoped he could get used to. But maybe making that comment wasn’t a good idea.

“I think you are…” Luke moaned as he arched his neck for Guy. “–Already doing something about it.” Leaning his head towards Guy, he kissed him suddenly then.
The next morning, Luke woke up sore and bruised a bit. It’d been…a rough night. Groaning, he rubbed his head as he head some quiet taps on the door. Climbing over Guy, he found his clothes scattered about. Once dressed in his pants and shirt he threw more covers over Guy as he opened the door. It was still early from what he could tell, the lights not peeking in through the window yet.

It may have been early, but this was a relatively normal time for Guy’s household to be awake, and Layla was no exception. As was the norm with children around her age she had difficulty sleeping, so learning her new father figure shared the same issue, they usually spent early mornings making a head start on her tutoring or outside.

It wasn’t until an unfamiliar man opened the door that she remembered about Luke.

“Umm... hi..?” She still felt nervous, but granted she had only met him the night before. The little girl continued to study the taller redhead in front of her - eyes settling on the deep marks covering his neck, and a few along his stomach.

“What are those?”
