like i’m picturing him being really careful and looking at it and carrying it exactly like this while walking or riding through the woods and across rivers and up mountains and through valleys and he doesn’t drop it even once except at the very end where he tidily drops it into the volcano. frodo sam and the crew and even gollum wholly undisturbed. sauron can’t find him bc of the meditative aura surrounding him which is generated by his immense focus on not dropping it

For those desperately waiting, not long dears! The open beta begins on the 11th afaik.

It is just... *so amazing*. I've been here since the Alpha testing months, and to see the game go from that to what it currently is, is just straight up a delight. Alpha, we didn't really have a lot of quests, and the landscape was *super different*. Then coming back for stress tests and closed, shorter Alpha tests when things changed, I had to remake my character, all that...

Palia is a gift for people who aren't typically into MMOs, like me. I'm a soloist player by nature, I'm shy, I'm awkward, I do not know how to start conversations. But being involved in this since the Alpha means I have a ton of working knowledge I can offer up to people who've just started, or have forgotten because of how long we've been waiting (and I am super excited for the Switch version. I wonder if there's going to be crossplay, or if it'll be two different things? MORE PLAY TIME!)

The game itself is a delight; there's no combat, no traditional dungeons to run. You're a human who is reborn into the world of Palia, where the Palians live, and humans are/were a myth. There's a ton of lore to uncover, but mostly what it is, is a life sim turned mmo. You fish, farm, hunt, gather, build, and explore. You make friends, neighborhoods, you can date and have permanent relationships with specific NPCs (no I do not know how this works, I never got that far. XD And now that I can *there's so many options!*), hell, you go from a tent to a house really quite rapidly!

Oh, and no, I am not be paid for this XD I am gushing because the NDA is lifted and I adore Palia.

It's not perfect (we could use more body types for sure, more skin tones, more hair styles), but for a game literally just coming out to play, Singularity 6 has made a *wonderful* world.

Now then, I need to eat so I can get back into that world. My house should be done!

We’re watching the Return of the King right now, and got to the part where Denethor is introduced.  My husband asks me for the context of why Denethor is Like That, since I just finished reading the book.  So I explained how Denethor has been using a Palantir for years to get information, and how Sauron has been manipulating him by only letting him see events that give him a worst possible impression of reality.

So my husband replies “Oh!  So Denethor is basically just like your grandpa after he starts getting all his news from Fox.”   And honestly, yeah pretty much.

Everybody who wears The One Ring in LOTR starts to refer to it as ‘My Precious,’ and Tolkien’s right that is super creepy, but what I really love is that everybody does it, which says to me that this super powerful scary evil sentient ring has a favorite pet name and just, like, will not respond to anything else.

look i’m just saying, even as educated as frodo is, would he really KNOW the true name of sauron? like shit, of any of the elves left in middle earth by the time the events of LotR actually happen, only círdan and galadriel are old enough to remember that sauron existed in valinor (not counting old sindarin/avari elves because iirc sauron was never called mairon on the shores of ara [except possibly by melkor wink wonk]), let alone what his name was. so to everyone in ME, he’s always been sauron, and there’s no connection to “precious” in any linguistic sense… but mairon remembers.

Working on an IVCS version of G’raha’s gloves. They’re almost done, just need some tweaks so they don’t look like garbage in any pose beyond the default. It’ll be the first mod I upload for public download. [screaming in the distance]

so for nanowrimo this year i decided to not write a novel but instead write a screenplay for my dream project, A MUPPET ODYSSEY, which is homer’s odyssey but it’s muppets, a la muppet christmas carol. i didn’t finish it :( but here’s some of it.
