Isadora, Duncan, and Quigley Quagmire.

I’ve explained before but I theorize that Isadora and Duncan would probably have PTSD and attachment issues due to losing their brother and parents all at once

And Quigley is a little wild and independent, a little loose and frantic. He’s been on his own a long time.

Do you still take prompts?

[The short answer: probably, at least for drabbles, but it depends.

The long answer: it’s been a long time since I was last officially taking prompts (or at least, since I last asked for them)—I’ve spent most of the past couple years on an off-and-on hiatus from this blog, and only just started posting here again. That being said, I’m essentially always open to receiving prompts for short drabbles, depending on the nature of the prompt (I don’t write explicit content or anything condoning any form of bigotry, am not usually fond of romance-centric writing, and care more for certain characters than others—I love writing Moxie and Jacques, for instance, but I find Poe and Olaf somewhat less interesting to write). So if you’d like to send in a prompt, please feel free to do so! It’s been a while since I’ve written much for the ASoUE/ATWQ ‘verse and I’d like to get back into the proper style, especially as I have a few unfinished fics floating around. Just know that I can’t guarantee that I’ll write something for any prompts I receive, and it might take me a little while to get to them. Also, given that I’m currently in this midst of several large writing projects, I’d probably just write a quick drabble of a hundred words or so unless I really liked the concept. If you’d like me to write something longer, or have it more specifically tailored to an idea, I’m currently participating in a fundraiser for RAICES; for everyone dollar donated I’ll write 200 words (or you can commission another writer/artist instead—a lot of very talented people have joined the effort). Today’s the last day of the fundraiser, actually (July 7th)!

Thank you for asking (and enduring the somewhat complex response)!]

FUNDRAISER FOR RAICES - JULY 4TH-7TH

Commission participating artists and writers to benefit immigrants, asylum-seekers and detainees

In 2016, my friends and I put together a fundraiser on Crowdrise that raised 2,000 for the ACLU by getting fanartists, fic writers and fans together, and I’d like to see if we can do something like that again.

The artists, writers and crafters on the lists linked below are participating in this fundraiser. You can commission a charity piece from any of them by donating to this GoFundMe.

Just donate, then mention in a comment the name of the artist/writer you’re commissioning, as well as EITHER a description of the commission or a note saying you’ll contact them directly.

All donations go directly to RAICES, a group that provides free and low cost legal services to US immigrants, asylum seekers and detainees.

RAICES serves immigrants seeking citizenship, asylum-seekers and victims of crimes that might not otherwise report for fear of it affecting their immigration status. They provide free legal services to detainees in the Karnes Detention Center, and represent them in court. They have also been working with the Texas Civil Rights Project to identify the families being separated at the border through their Family Reunification Program.

If like me you’re horrified and saddened by what is happening to immigrants and asylum seekers in the United States right now, RAICES is a fantastic group to support. And if you commission someone through this fundraiser, you can also get some beautiful artwork, fanfic, other writing or even a crocheted doll or dice bag!

Lem, aka  @anomalousresources / @variousfableddictions will be taking writing commissions for charity from July 4th- 7th!

You can get commissions by donating to this GoFundMe. All donations go directly to RAICES, a group that provides free and low cost legal services to US immigrants, asylum seekers and detainees.

Here’s what you can get if you donate:

  • 200 words for every $1, with a max of 4000 words

Limits: Nothing nsfw, no extremely graphic violence, basically nothing above a PG-13 rating, nothing condoning any form of bigotry, and I’d rather not write excessive romance—light romance is fine as long as it doesn’t involve large age gaps, abusive dynamics, related characters (in the familial sense), erasing canon identities (such as romantically shipping an aro character), or very young characters

In terms of fanfiction (or meta analysis on works of fiction), I’d prefer to be at least passingly familiar with the source material, and the more familiar I am with it the better I’ll be able to write in character. I’m most comfortable with writing for ars PARADOXICA, Wolf 359, A Series of Unfortunate Events, and All the Wrong Questions; I’ve dabbled in writing for and am also fairly familiar with the styles of Tides, Harry Potter, Welcome to Night Vale, Cabin Pressure, Lord of the Rings, The Bright Sessions, and Girl in Space.

I’m into a lot of other fandoms as well (to name a few more that I’m fairly confident in my ability to pin down voices for: Wooden Overcoats, Doctor Who [mainly New Who], Imperial Radch, Battlestar Galactica [2004 reboot version], Firefly, Pacific Rim, The Martian, and Fringe), so if someone is invested in a story that’s not included here they’re welcome to message me and ask if I’ve seen/read/watched/listened to something specific. I’m also totally fine with writing crossovers/aus, if someone would like me to incorporate elements of multiple source materials. Examples of fanfiction can be found on AO3 under “captainoflifeandlemons.”

In terms of poetry or original fiction, I’m happy to follow any prompt as long as it complies with the limits I gave. Song parodies can be fandom-related (i.e. a Wolf 359 parody of “Livin’ on a Prayer”) or not (i.e. a geology parody of “Don’t Stop Me Now”), and as specific or vague as you would like. If people have any questions about what else I will/can write, again, they’re welcome to message me.
