very interesting! due to the tone and inflections here, he sounds like he’s actually warning you away from condemning a thief to death as it’s disproportionate.
obviously, once we get to baldur’s gate itself we’ll be able to dig around more for what he was like as a magistrate, but he does seem to have a hierarchy of punishments in there. >:3c
