Ranting:
On Facebook as well as twitter I share a lot of things that deal with disagreeing with who our president is and how our government is being ran.. but that does NOT mean I do not believe in our country. That does NOT mean I hate our nation. I am a proud American, I believe in upholding the constitution and I believe in our military.. just ah. Prepare for a political rant. We 'as a country', by that I mean our president, believes an oil line is better than keeping fresh water?.. are we now blind to the struggle that's going on in North Dakota? I'm an American and I believe in being the land of the free and home of the brave. Why are the brave fighting to let the native people to our land keep it while our government, the government for the 'people', fighting against them? For oil, a damn oil line. I'm all for creating new jobs and boosting our economy but ffs why are we putting oil over water? I'm an American and I believe in equality and justice. So why is our government starting to slowly take rights away from the LGBT community? They finally got same sex marriage rights, the same rights as every straight couple. And now our government is trying to take that away from them? Excuse me? How are two other people getting married effecting or damaging anyone else's marriage?.. and why are we okay with our Vice President being an advocate for Gay Conversion Therapy?.. how is that treating everyone as equal. How is that believing in the basics of our country? And justice, we let someone who believes justice is going overboard on deportation because immigrants (illegal or not, personally I believe you need to get a green card or be working on a visa but that's so you are an actual citizen and are protected as a citizen under law) are 'taking' our jobs into office. No, that's not what's going on. They're doing jobs that us ,as natural born Americans, aren't willing to do. He can't even keep his lies straight, one day he supports LGBT rights the next he's against them. One day he's saying that he isn't racist yet, the next he's bluntly calling other races less or saying they're all something. That is prejudice, that is an unfair belief based solely on opinions and not facts. I'm an American and I believe in freedom. I believe in freedom of expression and the press. To say what we think and believe without fear of persecution by law or government. We have the freedom of speech so why are we okay with our president, our commander and chief, attempt to sue the New York Times? Why are we okay with him saying the freedom of the press, of speech gives us 'too much freedom'? I should not have to fear persecution for stating my beliefs. I am an American and I believe in democracy. So why have we let someone come into office that is said to have been helped by Russia to get into office? To have rigged our election? Who many of our citizens are pushing to have investigated because his campaign team was in tie with the Russian Government while running to get elected? Why have we let someone come into office that Germany warned us about? That show traits of being a fascist? I'm an American and I believe in foreign policy. Keeping ties with our allies and understanding what's wrong and right and keeping the threats at bay. So why are we letting the man in charge destroy relationships with our allies? Why are we okay with him building a wall to separate us from our neighboring country because of their race? If it wasn't he'd be having on built on every edge of our country and not just the southern boarder. I'm an American and I believe in open and free trade. So why are we okay with someone being in office that basically believes in isolationism and raising tariffs on imported goods? That won't help our economy, our products will be taxed so much in foreign nations that they won't be bought. We've tried it before haven't we? I'm an American and I believe in respecting our government and president and believing they're for us and not for themselves. I cannot respect our president though, this isn't because of his job it's because of who he is as a person. I cannot show someone respect who has such strong prejudice against others and is so dishonest. I cannot show respect for someone who doesn't believe in science and says we need to believe their 'alternative facts'. I cannot show someone respect who is only looking after themselves and is selfish. I can't, I just simply can't. I believe in a free America, land of the free and home of the brave. I believe in our ten amendments, and our basic human rights. I believe in honestly and doing what's best for our nation even if it means having to open up to new ideas. I believe in foreign policy and keeping in touch with our global neighbors. I believe in science, and taking care of our planet to slow down global warming. I'm an American and this is NOT the America I grew up being taught to love and respect. We need to go back to how we were. What we were. Or what so many, including myself, were at least taught our nation was.. greatness is not an adjective I would choose to describe the direction we are heading in. Rant over.
