Justice for Breonna Taylor

the nastiest thing about the breonna taylor decision is you can tell there was some fucking cost-benefit analysis that went into the decision. they started preparing for how to crack down on civil unrest before the decision was even announced, which tells me that they had a choice between accountability and spending the foreseeable future beating protestors in the streets. they obviously thought the latter was preferable to letting even one officer take responsibility for murdering an innocent woman in cold blood. what sucks even more to me is probably how easily they made that decision. it’s like our public services are only accountable to capital, and not the public, or something

No charges for Breonna Taylor’s killer’s. Cops in Seattle are already blocking streets in preparation to commit more war crimes against any protests that arise. Fuck this country.

Don’t let the media fool you

You may have seen headlines all day, trying to convince you that justice was served for Breonna Taylor. Do not believe one bit of it!

The reality of the verdict:

I am so angry. Three cops walk into a house and killed Breonna Taylor while she was SLEEPING. They charged ONE ex-officer Brett Hankison in the case, not for MURDERING Breonna Taylor but for shooting bullets into the neighbours apartment. He was charged with wanton endangerment. For anyone who does not know what wanton endangerment is, here’s a definition below.

First of all, wanton literally means “a deliberate and unprovoked cruel or violent action.” As for the charge of wanton endangerment, the Kentucky government website states that “a person is guilty of wanton endangerment in the first degree when, under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life, he wantonly engages in conduct which creates a substantial danger of death or serious physical injury to another person.”

How are his actions only wanton endangerment? They, all three officers, SHOULD have been charged with MURDER. He, and accompanying officers, caused more than a substantial danger of death and serious physical injury to Breonna, THEY KILLED HER. Yet the grand jury was more worried about the shots fired into the neighbours apartment. Do not get me wrong, the officers should also be held accountable for those bullets too, but they intentionally ignored the pleas for justice for Breonna and that’s complete disregard for the value of Black lives altogether.

If you think this is the justice Breonna deserved, you are sorely mistaken. It’s time to take down the system and rebuild it from the ground up. We must not stop making noise.

We must fight against a common darkness that shadows our ability to live truthfully, to live without self doubt, and without self destruction and love ourselves for what we are. When writing “Skinny Skinny” I first thought of myself, and many other young peoples struggles with body image and particularly body dysmorphia. It’s something I’ve never confronted in a creative form and I am feeling strong in saying “Skinny Skinny” goes directly to that painful place in my mind.

ruth bader ginsburg lived 87 fucking long years, helped secure abortion rights, marriage equality, and immigration rights among loads of other things.

remember her legacy as both a supreme court justice, as an advocate and icon in equality movements, and as the woman who wouldn’t take no shit from donald trump, sticking through multiple battles with cancer to preserve our rights.

may her memory be a blessing. honor her legacy.
