it’s both. long time sadist obsession in porn perpetuates the sexualisation of women’s pain, & reflects the same phenomenon that has occurred for decades in visual media, especially in film & the horror film, where women “gurgle orgasmically” as they die by some phallic stabbing/rape metaphor or whatever.

i don’t think sexualising women’s pain is something that horror or even porn necessarily started - meaning the core misogyny was almost definitely already around - but it’s been exponentially validated and perpetuated over time & spread to all modern forms of media. in a culture where rape statistics are sickeningly high and literal rape/sexual abuse fetishes are a reality, you can see how disturbing the correlation is. 

we find it easier to empathise with male pain, and harder to take women’s nearly as seriously. in terms of physical pain, when the violation of women’s bodies (by weapons or people, though the two can be interchangeable) is sexualised (either by a culture or by the medium itself), our empathy for women is lowered. women want to be violated, it tells us. they like it.

bottom line is it’s fucking traumatising.

Man it really tickles me how many years women were banned from fighting in the military and now men are turning around and blaming the fact that only men have to register for the draft on feminists

Delaney Robinson, a sophomore at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill alleged Tuesday that a football player at the school raped her in February and that UNC has done nothing about it. In a powerful personal statement she explained how “she did everything a rape victim is supposed to do.”

If you think all Black people’s blogs are “social justice” blogs, you’re racist.

I read some newspaper article recently that pretty much summed up Tumblr and the responses to it this way—privileged people who come here are shocked to see marginalized people talking about their experiences, so they think everyone’s just obsessed with social justice, rather than talking about their own lives.

this is really important. 

“When 49 people in Orlando were killed you blamed the gun, why are you not blaming the truck now?!”

You have to be kidding me right? We’re not going to blame the truck because a truck is made for transport - a gun is made to kill.

But yeah, almost 90 people killed and the first thing you do is think about your pro-gun agenda. Get the fuck out.
