  Eddie grinned and hurried in, Jon in tow. He scooped Maddie up and hugged her tight. “Hi, sweetie! I missed you!”

Jonathan hung back just slightly, apparently very interested in a loose thread on his shirt.

I had a birthday! And an adventure. But I won’t anymore. *She added that for her mother.*

Oh, I’m glad to see you boys. Do you want something to drink? You should see what I’ve done with the place.

"You did?! Oh, goodness…"  Jonathan smiled slightly. “It looks nice.”

It’s also twice as big as it looks, at least. I learned how to fold space like nesting dolls. I don’t know how to do it outside of here yet, but I’ve doubled my growing space.

"Sounds nice…" he inched a little closer.

What have you two been up to? 

"Well, we just got out from...um...you know..." Eddie glanced at Maddie, setting her down.

"It took awhile."

Eddie tugged a nervous Jonathan up to Helix’s place, attempting to show the other man that things were Just Fine and Helix would be Okay. Jonathan didn’t seem so certain, but he had agreed to come.

They knocked, standing side by side.

*The door pops open with a humid puff of air, and Maddie comes rushing up to it, accompanied by her mother.*

Eeeee! Big brothers! Big brothers!

Guys! Oh my goodness, it’s been forever, where have you been! Get in here, c’mon!
