because I love you I can't be selfish with you. Sometimes we find beauty in the least expect places and vision is the art of seeing what is invisible to others.

sometime during third grade one of the older girls spread a rumor that I was a lesbian. I didn’t know what the word meant but my teacher said I’d figure it out someday.  I quickly realized that that the word lesbian means never been invited to sleepovers or birthday parties. it is the fear that you will try to touch another girl without her permission, just as boys do. to me the word lesbian is synonymous with a scared little girl with big eyes and an aching heart. she sits silently as all of her friends talk about boys, heart pounding terrified they’ll ask her which one she likes best. it is watching your first crush slow dance with her boyfriend at the eighth grade dance, wondering how many advil you need to swallow to never wake up again. it is the burn in the chest as you remember your mother explaining “girls do not kiss other girls”. it is the fear of the locker room in freshman year p.e. it is pretending not to hear the pretty girl say, “I hope there aren’t any lesbians in here. that would be creepy”. it is the boy in english class saying he only watches lesbian porn but would never vote for gay marriage. it is hearing your best friend say “i love gay people!” but confessing to you she wouldn’t know how to react to a lesbian, since lesbians probably think about her naked. but no one ever told me that lesbian means beauty and strength. the beauty of loving a girl for the first time, and the strength of all the other women loving women who came before you. it is being the person you are exactly as you were meant to be. it is flawless, and it is fearless.

“I really didn’t expect for that character [Lexa] to become quite as much of an icon. I mean, what an incredible sort of power that has for groups of people and storytelling. I think one thing that has been a little confronting is the realization that you don’t own a character. It does become other people’s and it’s hard because your face is on it and you are part of it, portraying it but at some point there is a line where it stops being yours, where other people create fanfiction or they dress up themselves. So you are attached to it and they see you as that character, but it’s not completely yours.” - Alycia Debnam-Carey.

“Lexa is emotionless”

Are

you

blind

????

How can people not see how much pain Lexa is in, every time she is about to cry, she tightens her lips and you can see the emotions in her eyes

When she talks about Costia, you can see she is trying her best not to break down!

When she finds out Anya died, it was devastating for her!

After she kills Gustus, do you not see the pain and regret in her face??

She is just a child trying not to fall apart after she lost the only 3 people that meant something to her. Because she has to be the “COMMANDER” of her people.

LEXA SHOULD BE PROTECTED AT ALL COSTS AND DESERVES TO BE HAPPY

Yo but Lexa saying “ I am more than capable of separating feelings from duty” is actually really sad. Because we know she’s had to do that so many times. She had to let Costia’s murder go unavenged, she had to make peace with her murderer. She had to kill her mentor, and likely her parental figure, Gustus. She had to walk away from the only person she’s felt equal with, the person she fell in love with, she had to walk away from Clarke. Lexa is more than capable of separating feelings from duty, because it’s all she ever does.

My favorite thing about Lexa is that whenever Clarke challenges her, she just gets really really close to her face. Its like she is asking “you sure you want to test me?” and Clarke always looks a little flustered because she knows Lexa could totally kick her ass but she’s also kind of turned on? Clarke is like “Oh shit I should not have said that, wow she’s really pretty, wait what?” and I feel like Lexa knows she has this effect on Clarke. So she steps closer with a dual purpose of dont test me but also now you’re thinking about kissing me.
