exit Noble Sir Landfill

Sir Landfill is going on a knightly quest to strange lands! In other words, I’m shutting this blog down. It will probably not be deleted, but most of my posts may or may not disappear.

I’ll still run project The Dark Beginnings, but I no longer have a personal.

It’s been a great few years. I’ve made friends here and had a lot of fun. Thank you all!

If anyone wishes to contact me, I’m readily available via email: visiblepancake@gmail.com (it’s a fandom address with no personal info attached). I’m also cool with giving people my skype handle.

also, importantly!

special thanks and a shout-out to: @congruentepitheton, @theparadoxmachine, @tuirseachmarbeachisamhradh, @lossencat, @theranidw, @goldy-shinyson, and, of course, @reginaldmaudling and @wintersknight. You’re all awesome people. Take care of yourselves.

A popular battlefield song that originated shortly before the battle of Marengo. x

Le Chant de l’Oignon                              (The Song of the Onion) J’aime l’oignon frît à l’huile,    (I love onion fried with oil,) J’aime l’oignon quand il est bon,    (I love the onion when it’s good,) J’aime l’oignon frît à l’huile,                       (I love onion fried with oil,)  J’aime l’oignon, j’aime l’oignon.    (I love onion, I love onion.) (Let’s charge, let’s charge, let’s charge) Un seul oignon frît à l’huile,                      (One onion fried with oil,) Un seul oignon nous change en lion,         (One onion we change into a lion,) Un seul oignon frît à l’huile                       (One onion fried with oil,) Un seul oignon nous change en lion.         (One onion we change into a lion,) (refrain) Mais pas d’oignons aux Autrichiens,        (But no onions for the Austrians) Non pas d’oignons à tous ces chiens,       (No onions for all these dogs) Mais pas d’oignons aux Autrichiens,        (But no onions for the Austrians) Non pas d’oignons, non pas d’oignons.    (No onions, no onions) (refrain) Aimons l’oignon frît à l’huile,                    (Love the onion fried with oil.) Aimons l’oignon car il est bon,                 (Love the onion because it’s good,) Aimons l’oignon frît à l’huile,                    (Love the onion fried with oil.) Aimons l’oignon, aimons l’oignon             (Love the onion, love the onion.) (refrain)

Thank you for sharing this! In all its oniony glory!

Hi! Are you still doing the headcanon meme? If yes: 1) ☾, ■, ▼ and ൠ for Thomas Nightingale from "Rivers of London" and 2) ☾, ■, ☮ and ൠ for Molly from "Rivers of London".

Avatar

Sure, friendly stranger, why not!

☾ Sleep headcanon for Nightingale.

Nightingale definitely had a super intense allegorical dream about having accepted Peter as his apprentice and friend. The London cityscape, ancient Rome, some very symbolic and Not At All Feely hand-holding, and a sunset or two were involved. I generally feel like a part of Nightingale is secretly pretty melodramatic. You don’t get to this level of devotion to Duty without some inner melodrama.

■ Bedroom headcanon for Nightingale.

Crisp white bedsheets, grey blanket, pale beige walls, perfect cleanliness, and not a whole lot of other furniture. BUT he spent, like, 10,000 hours choosing the right shade of white for the sheets and the right type of perfectly unremarkable bed.

▼Childhood headcanon for Nightingale.

A long-suffering tiny Nightingale getting his friends out of the trouble they always get themselves into. Tiny Nightingale standing on a chair to reach the top of the stove and cook food for his siblings. Tiny Nightingale being a generally over-responsible sad little bundle of common sense.

☾ Sleep headcanon for Molly.

Molly should have some interesting sensory preferences. Maybe she likes super rough woolen blankets. Or puts a pack of ice on her head when sleeping.

I feel like her not wanting to exit the Folly is about more than just the people outside - more like, something within her is uncomfortable with the very idea of being in the outside world, and sensory issues could be a part of it.

■ Living quarters headcanon for Molly.

Much like some cozy little Middle European inn from the 1920s, possibly featuring herbs and garlic hanging on the wall and some dreadfully old-fashioned porcelain Cupids! :D

☮Friendship headcanon for Molly.

Peter and Molly gradually discover that they have things in common when Peter starts telling her about Mama Grant’s cooking. At first he thinks she’s not listening to him or doesn’t care what he says, but then she brings him a pen and a sheet of paper, and he realizes that she wants him to write the recipes down :D He also sells Molly on jazz music and she turns out to be surprisingly interested in decades-old musician gossip.

Toby comes to sleep on her legs, y/y? And she always has a small treat for him lying on her bedside table.

P.S. I’ll think of something for the random headcanons and post them separately!

During Victor Hugo’s funeral, most of the brothels in Paris closed down because all the prostitutes were in mourning for their best client #trufax

“No way that’s true,” I thought as I looked this up, thus starting the day by proving myself terribly wrong.

“A police source informed Edmond Goncourt that the brothels were shuttered and the city’s prostitutes had bedecked their crotches with black crepe in honor of the great man’s passing.” x
