beryl hutchinson reading list/guide

who is beryl, and why do i care?

The short answer is that Beryl is a character with powers that tell her how best to communicate with other people, and she uses them for things like this:

(It was what he needed to hear! I’m serious.)

But, uh. Beryl is part of the extended Batfam cast, a member of Batman Inc. who, over twenty years of irregular appearances, has accumulated a backstory I think is really, really interesting. She is a (British) Robin who saves her (British) Batman from the fog of grief and self-destructive ruin, only to later watch him die in front of her. She’s a teenage girl who takes on her mentor’s mantle at what has to be a terrifyingly young age, and becomes a mentor and leader of other vigilantes in turn. She’s a fixer, a deeply compassionate person who cares about other people, but also isn’t afraid to tell you off when she thinks you deserve it. She is magnificent and I love her dearly.

Oh my god you guys

It's been hours and I'm still stuck with Brennan and Lou being like:

Like, they knew they were not gonna let Erika win, they wanted to be the last two standing, so it wouldn't matter if it was Erika or Raph, and yet, they did that

the thing that kills me about this is that they controlled the vote - they didn't NEED to use the idol for erika! they just both had to vote for raph! so using the idol was just about making sure erika knew she was on their team and dome folks stick together! which, when paired with erika's confessional about her winning because she got to spend time with her friends, is truly beautiful!
