dear awkwardgeorge, just wanted to let you know that almost 10 years ago now my best friend and i, both working at that time at the beatles store in london, spent the early hours of one morning scrolling through your blog and came across an anonymous ask with no preamble or context that simply said 'but really why? did he eat a lot or?' to which you correctly responded with the image of kate beaton's edgar allen poe squinting at that letter from jules verne. since that day we have never laughed at anything harder. i mean like, genuinely, we lost our minds i almost pulled a muscle. to this day there is nothing funnier to us than this perfect combo of ask & answer. we just have to mention it & we crack up all over again. she & i both live across the world from each other now & it's hard not being around her but in these trying times we are still connected by 'but really why? did he eat a lot or?' so thank you. i'm glad to see you're still going. (combined your two asks here!) but OMG LMAO THIS IS AMAZING!!! I LOVE THIS!!!!

(Just went back and found that post and can confirm it is very funny: https://awkwardgeorge.tumblr.com/post/15072701873/but-really-why-did-he-eat-a-lot-or)

I don’t remember if that was me (Cristina) or Silvi, I think it was probably Silvi but I can’t be sure.

It is truly beautiful to know that we’ve affected the lives of two random friends on the other side of the world for so many years, particularly for such a silly reason. I mean this sincerely, it is beautiful. I have so many long-running jokes like this with my sister for tiny little things that no one else gets, so I fully get it! So honoured to be a part of it!

And I guess, yes, we technically are still going, in a loose sense of the term! We started this blog when we were at uni in 2011 (and avid tumblr users) and are now both very much in the tail end of our 20s, which is bizarre, and we’re definitely using tumblr far less frequently / if at all (ie we definitely won’t be sourcing posts here ourselves and haven’t for a long time now), but we’ll pretty much always queue up a post if we get a submission :)
