I think one of the reasons Abigail keeps stopping Harrow's Aus, is because they get more intimate. They get more into Harrow's deep romantic fantasies, and Abigail doesn't wish these to be exposed in an un-consensual manner in Harrow's brain desperate attempt to preserve Gideon's soul. One of Abigail's traits is that she is curious, but not at the expense of someone's else autonomy. She asks Harrow if she knows what is in the Tomb, not what it is, because she knows it's an important secret that the Ninth is supposed to guard.

It's how I interpreted her character anyway.

Silas Octakiseron gets a lot of hate considering he’s a pretty perfect mirror to Harrow, just from another planet:

- teenage leader of house (Silas is 16, maybe 17 by the end of GTN)

- monochrome outfits

- devotion to religious sect and philosophical distain of others for that reason (or at least they use religion as an excuse to be horrible gnats)

- fucked up relationship with family including the social or literal control of another person or person’s body

- both hate the secret of lyctorhood and become anti-emperor heretics pretty much as soon as they find out, despite their faith being built around the man himself

Not even gonna say that Silas is a foil to Harrow because that would imply there’s some great difference between them that highlights their individual character traits. These two are set up to be nearly the same person.

I wanted to share my process for my 14 page Nona comic, This got pretty long so the rest is under the cut!

Thinking about TLT and specifically, how many times Gideon has died in the books.

I'd have to go back and reread GtN to see if there are any others I'm not remembering off the top of my head.

But I do think she definitely did die; John was capable of dying, too-- Dominicus flickered in HtN when Mercymorn killed him. He just came back, is all. Gideon is the same. She can die, but she can also come back (unless someone eats her soul-- and even then! She still came back!)

I like to think Ortus was forced into babysitting duty to bond with the young Reverend Daughter and the reason Harrow has the Noniad memorized is because he would read it to her every night as a bedtime story and she had no power to stop it because she was like 3.
