Eventual Ghost x OFC

I’m gonna be honest, I haven’t actively written jack all in the last ten years and my jumping down the rabbit hole of this fandom’s made me really want to get back into writing. So I’m literally just posting this for feedback. As of right now there is nothing else written out for this, though I have a general idea of where I want it to go with it. This is a rough draft as I tend to re read what I write and make changes multiple times. The only warning I can give at the moment is for an allusion to unalivement/war crimes (its Call of Duty, this is to be expected). The one phrase in Russian was done through google translate so if its completely wrong in what I was attempting to say I apologize.

Death of Peace of Mind

~Omen~

Verdansk had been the beginning.

Her team had only just returned to base at the time with a squad of American Army Rangers after a joint operation when the orders came down for them to haul ass to Verdansk. The simple part of it was to rendezvous with another SAS squad and a platoon of Marines and provide support. It had sounded too easy when explained like that, but Katrina had served for the better part of a decade, a large portion of that with the British Special Air Service. Nothing was ever that simple with a level of urgency like this.

No time to debrief after their latest mission, or to grab any of their belongings they had brought just a few days prior (though they had been reassured by the Base Commander that there would be no problems for them to come back once they were done), the team of four simply piled into the Chinook and used the time during flight they had to relax.

Katrina had shared a look of concern with her other Sergeant at first, a mousey brunette they affectionately called Smoky that looked like he weighted forty-five kilos soaking wet, both unsure of how to feel about diving head first into a new mission after having just finished one. It wasn’t the oddest thing to happen, she personally had heard stories of some SAS squads going from one operation to the next simply because they were nearby, but the immediate sense of urgency wasn’t sitting right with either herself or Smoky.

~Alright you three. Ears on yeah.~

Kat tore her gaze away from Smoky and looked to her left, the gaze of Captain Wallace Irons roving over each one of them before nodding slightly to himself knowing he had their attention.

~What th’ ‘ell is this about Capt’?~ Smoky huffed, eyes locking with the Captain before he continued. ~Why a they sendin’ us to Verdansk on short notice?~

~There’s been a terrorist attack. A Russian Ultra Nationalist group another team has been tracking alongside the CIA.~

Kat rolled her eyes, a part of her not surprised. ~Take one group out and anozher will follow. Like чертовы тараканы(chertovy tarakany). Bastards.~

~Which one is it this time?~ A small quirk of his lip was enough to let the team know that Lieutenant Jackson Davids, or Ajax as he had earned in Boot Camp, was annoyed at best. Not that it was in any way a surprise.

~Call themselves Konni Group.~ Irons replied, shooting both Kat and Smoky disapproving looks when he noticed them scoff.

Smoky groaned into his headset. ~Well that’s disappointing~

~And unoriginal. Sounds more like a Priviat Company than a terrorist group.~ Kat added, leaning back against the interior side of the Chinook as best she could.

~Regardless of reasoning, they’ve attacked the International Airport. Bravo team will be conducting a Capture or Kill mission for the Head of Konni group. We’re to provided support and help clear out any hostiles and secure any surviving civilians~

Surviving.

A heaviness seemed to fall over everyone at the term. There was no such thing as surviving when it came to organized attacks like these. They were meant to cause as much chaos as possible in as short a time span as possible, though the more sadistic groups had contingencies in place that somehow stretched out that chaos to spread hours instead of minutes.

Carnage in its most basic form, and they were marching headlong into it.

The rest of the flight from Iran to the mountains of Northern Georgia was in silence, everyone doing what they could to mentally prepare themselves for the hell they would be walking into.

It was no surprise when they landed on the closest airstrip to the building that the chaos had already unfolded beyond what had been anticipated. The echo of multiple sirens ricochetted all around them, soldiers running back and forth as the prepared to breach the terminals. Kat and Smoky hung back a few steps as Irons and Ajax were greeted by three people. A bald male that looked to be in his fifties in a dress Uniform, stars sitting across his shoulders belying his status as General, another soldier, male, to his left with mutton chops and a camo boonie’s hat (Bravo teams Captain if the SAS patch and Union Jack on his plate carrier was anything for Kat to go by), and another male to his right in full kit, the American flag on proud display on both his tac jacket and plate carrier.

Irons gave a quick nod to the first male that had approached just ahead of the other two. “General Shepherd.”

“Captain Irons.”

“Got here as fast as we could sir. My team is ready when you are.”

“Good thing then Captain. Our mission is to locate and capture Vladimir Makarov. Captain Price and his Sergeant will be spear heading this operation. Your team will be assisting in clearing out the hostiles and securing the building.” Shepherd explained, motioning to the Captain on his left at his mention.

“Understood sir.”

“Set your comms to channel three. Friendly call out is ‘Blue Blue’. Let’s bag this son’uva bitch and get ourselves a win.”

A resounding ‘yes sir’ echoed around Kat, her voice sounding distant as her mind took notice of the sudden change in the weather, sunlight disappearing behind advancing clouds that seemed to cluster closer and closer together...

“Smoky on me. Ajax with Kit. Let’s get moving lads.”

... Like an ill fated omen of things to come.
