yeah and this is straycatj, the popular tumblr cat. see that’s landlady, she adopted him a few years ago when he kept coming to her house for food. sometimes he runs through paper doors so landlady gives him the “funny face penalty” as you can see in this photo

#CVE 2024-3094#while this was averted it has introduced a lot of ugly questions in the cybersecurity community#especially around the risk/reward of using open source code like this#it wouldn’t have been discovered if it weren’t open source but it also wouldn’t have been introduced in the first place#& while the attack pattern follows the pattern of previous nation state attacks we don’t know if it was actually a nation state operation#or if it was someone with previous experience in those kinds of attacks operating independently#there is also speculation that the us gov was who told microsoft to look into this in the first place#not from random reddit conspiracy theorists but from well regarded cyber experts
