TEXT || NOAH & BROOKE

Brooke: Where's my little horror nerd?
Noah: He's currently watching the new Blair Witch. You know... It's not even as scary as it's hyped up to be.

After getting the text message she didn’t even think before doing. Before she knew it she was out of her house and then in her car and then there. Getting out of her car she’d wrap her arms around her dainty figure before spotting Noah. She couldn’t even comprehend what was happening let alone make conversation, cautiously walking up to the other she’d tap his shoulder gently it had been obvious why they were both here. “ – I don’t know what to do.” Her tone hinting fear just the slightest, she wanted to do anything that she could but bringing the authorities into this would just make things worse, way worse.

With each second that ticked away made the male feel more so uncomfortable with the current situation - he was alone, in front of an abandoned building, in the middle of the night...alone. A fidgeting action overcame his body before jerking wildly. He could have sworn that someone had made contact with him. Spinning around, he came face-to-face with yet another brunette. “How did you get here?” Whilst his response came across odd, it had a deeper intention: upon first judgment, he believed that the female was likely to be associated with the killer.

So, despite her yelling at Emma that splitting up wasn’t the brightest idea, once they got inside, that’s what they did anyways. She had heard a car door outside and had decided to see who had shown up. She saw it was Noah and called out to him, “Noah, this way!”

The security of another canceled out those metaphorical alarms that were going off inside of his head. From his current position, he had a clear view of whoever would enter and exit the main entrance. In this case, it was... “...Audrey?” Darting her way, he constantly checked over his shoulder. “Don’t tell me you’re here alone?”

A text message was only the beginning. Whilst everyone else chose to forget the recent activities that occurred in Lakewood, Noah could not. Socially, he had been a lot more anxious than usual and only found reality through horror movie cliches. “It’s one of those rare moments that I hate being right...” His worded breath collided with the frosty air, creating a cloud of white smoke. The text message’s coordinates led him to the correct location. But it was just stupid to enter alone. The brunette chose to wait it out for the time being, waiting for any potential allies to arrive after him.

“It’s okay and you’re okay, Noah. It’s going to be just fine,” Letting her hand move up, she rubbed his shoulder gently. She wanted him to calm down. Not because he was making her nervous but because he needed to relax. She wanted him to calm down. Hearing him talk about Audrey, she leaned her head over to the side. “I know that she did. I know. You know what I need you to do for me? I need you to relax. You’re being really obvious, darling.”

Located next to the group of cups were many bottles of the finest liquor and spirits. Taking the closest bottle - vodka, he poured one-quarter before topping it off with a large amount of Coca-Cola. Guided by the rubbing sensation on his shoulder, the alcoholic mixture was gulped own his throat. “Okay...okay.

tonight emma had more than her fair share of liquor. so much that the room was spinning a little. wanting to get away from the crowd, she went upstairs and into brooke’s room. she was sure she wouldn’t have minded, and the idea of laying in a bed sounded so appealing. her hand glided along the banister as she made her way up, feeling better already with space to actually breathe, and think. or rather, not think. that’s what tonight was about anyway, right? opening the door, she jumped back at the sight of a figure. “um, what are you doing?”

Despite Brooke’s many attempts at keeping the anxious behaviour away, and his brief encounter with Audrey, the itching sensation at the back of his mind wouldn’t allow him to relax. Perhaps it was down to watching too many horror movies? Or maybe it was the knowledge that the killer was targeting this friendship group? Either way, he knew that the source of this mess was down to some sort of spy software. In complete darkness, Noah stood hunched over, searching through draws and under desks for some sort of microphone or camera --- that was until... “...Emma! It’s not what it looks like!

“No Noah, it doesn’t hurt, I only had a knife slashed through my skin.” Audrey said sarcastically. “I don’t know how, or why I survived, trust me, I’ve mulled over that little detail all day.”

Image

“I panicked. I lost Riley, I couldn’t lose you.” There was no time for words. Dropping his once anxious behaviour, he slipped his legs from underneath him and into poolside. An arm looped around her shoulder, making sure to avoid the bandage that was made clear. He attempted to bring her into a sideways hug.

Audrey glanced up from her camera at the sound of Noah calling her name, smiling when he got to her. “You found me.” she said, before tilting her head towards the bandage, “There.”

Image

Does it hurt? How did you survive?” So many questions flew through his head at that point. But honestly, he was just relieved that she was still breathing as it wasn’t every day that the killer left victims to tell the tale of the attack.

Brooke had forgotten for just a second that he was going to have a gun at all, though she didn’t let him know that. Leaning her head to the side, she sighed and then reached over to grab it from him. “Calm down. Noah. It’s going to be okay. I’ve got this. Plus, you probably shouldn’t be carrying this around anyways. It’s dangerous enough that you’re even thinking about this right now whenever you just got here. Breathe,” she pleaded, placing the guy into her bag before smiling a little. “You’re okay.”

Image

“I panicked, okay?” Having the firearm in possession of someone who, more than likely, had more experience with shooting was a breath of fresh air. He may have been the one to be consistently right when it came to the killer’s actions, but she was more accurate on getting people to chill out. Instantly he shot for an empty cup on the kitchen counter. “After I left the coffee shop, I got a text from Audrey. She was attacked.”

Audrey was sat at the pool, doing the same exact thing she did the first time she came to Brooke’s house for a party, she took out her camera and started to film. She briefly looked down at the bandage on her arm before returning her focus onto her camera. “The life and times of grieving teenagers, fascinating,” she mumbled to herself, “More like drunk teenagers.”

“Audrey! Au---Audrey!” The outside venue was crowded. So crowded in fact that it made him clutch onto his bag strap a little bit tighter. Upon getting into a decent radius of his long-time friend, a crouching position formed on his behalf. “I found you. I know I’ve only been to one other of Brooke’s parties, but this is the crowdest. Are you okay? Where did you get cut?”

Brooke couldn’t help the smile that came across her face whenever Noah showed up and she let out a soft laugh. “This is why you drink. It helps. Even if you drink just a little. I know you don’t like to but still,” leaning her head to the side, she nudged him. “You really gotta stop doing that thing where you walk away and you’re super creepy, I’m not feelin’ that mood or creep face! It’s not comforting.”

Image

The ‘freak kid’ was finally showing his true colours. Of course, they were all in good humour. However, right now was not the time for jokes - hidden within the latched backpack was a live firearm. “You know what’s not comforting? Holding a gun. I don’t even know how to fire one!” He was attempting to keep his voice down but was honestly feeling the side effects of being on edge.

Finally, it was time to do anything but be mopey and Brooke was going to make sure that everyone had a really good time. Running her fingers through her hair, she grabbed a cup off of the table and she started to drink. Not that she hadn’t been before but now it was just a bit heavier than before. Standing in the kitchen, she took another drink the looked at the person beside her. “Having a good time?”

Mere hours ago, Noah Foster had left the scene of the local coffee shop with a backpack placed over his shoulder. Fast forward to the present time and the individual was still recognized to having the very same carrying utensil. “As good of a time as one can have given the circumstances.” It was apparent that he had only just arrived as his anxious behaviour did not match the mellow tone of the party. “I don’t know what to do with it.”
