I'm Amber. I'm a fangirl (Joss Whedon in particular). I have the best friends and most amazing boyfriend a girl could have ever dreamed of. I'm trying really hard to be a grown up but that doesn't mean I can't still love all things Disney (and whatever the hell else I want to love.) I'm also tracking my progress with Invisalign so yay for straight teeth!

Well everyone, I got my Invisalign off on Tuesday! It happened to be my boyfriend's birthday and he happened to surprise me with a proposal in front of all our friends! Perfect timing for a perfect smile! They shaved the buttons off my teeth and gave me my retainers and whitening kit. The retainers have to be worn for 6 weeks and after that only at night. YAY!!!

Guess what?

I called the dentist to check on my bottom retainer since it's been over 2 weeks. No one ordered it. Again. Not sure why two people were working on my teeth and decided neither one of them were going to do what they said, but they didn't. So they ordered my bottom retainer today. So they say. I told them I will only be completing one of my over correctors for my top teeth, which is my next set. Do you know what that means? I have one more set of aligners until I'm DONE. August first I will have buttons off my teeth and I never have to go back there againnnnn! Unless they fuck up. Which wouldn't surprise me. But yay new teeth!

Quickie update

Today was the last day for my bottom Invisalign. I called the stupid shit dentist last week to check to see what would be happening and the stupid shit receptionist was like "it looks like you have two more." Hate her. So I go today and guess what. I'm done. And no one ordered my bottom retainer. So I get to have my gross 2 week old ones in until my retainer comes and then drive to pick it up. Hate it. What I DO have two more sets of are my TOP teeth. Today I had to get two spots shaved off of my teeth to make room. Apparently they're shifting them to the right more. Whatever I'm so excited I'm almost done. I have 6 weeks of the over-correctors after these last two sets but I might just pass on those. I miss feeling my teeth and I'm sure my boyfriend would enjoy not kissing plastic. Not that he kisses my teeth, but get this shit out of my mouth. Plus my best friend's wedding festivities start in August and I want my teeth in pictures! The end is near my friends!

Hello friends! It has been brought to my attention that I haven’t updated about my teeth in a while. So here I am!

First of all I never thought my teeth were that bad but looking at my before picture makes me feel like a snaggletoothed beast. Also. I still don’t know why my teeth look covered in butter in the top picture.

So. I’m on week 34. This is actually my last set of aligners for my bottom teeth (WOOHOOO!!). My top would have been done if they hadn’t come to a standstill in December because of an ill-fitting aligner. What I didn’t know about Invisalign is that the last 6 weeks of aligners are “over correctors” to fix anything that may need to be tightened up. My bottom teeth were straight 6 weeks ago but since my top ones won’t be done I just continued with them. My top ones have over correctors too so I’m hoping to be done at the end of July instead of August!

Anyway, I think the pictures are clear. The top ones were my first day of Invisalign, I believe the middle picture is week 5 and the bottom is now (week 34)It’s been a really easy process. There have been times my teeth hurt more than others, more at the beginning when they were moving the most. They only really hurt the first 2 or 3 days of a new set and then they’re fine. What Im over though, is brushing them. I cherish new aligner mornings when I chuck my old ones in the trash (and then dig them out of my dog’s mouth because he’s obsessed with eating them.)

I go in on friday to figure out what the last step for my bottom teeth are and to beg the dentist to let me finish my top ones without the over correctors. I guess we will all know more after that :)

Invisalign update

So I went in for my second appointment. I go every 6 weeks. The first 6 week check in, the dentist didn't see me, they just gave me my next 6 weeks of aligners. On my 12th week they needed to shave a small part of my tooth off to make room. It didn't hurt at the time but the next day when cold water hit it, I felt like I was dying. They said one of my top teeth wasn't down as far as it should be but that they'd keep an eye on it. When I got home I realized the button on my tooth wasn't snapping into the groove on the aligner. I called and they told me to come in so I could get fitted for new ones. I'm pretty upset. They told me it's because I probably didn't push it up all the way. We'll maybe if they didn't wait 3 months to see me, we could have figured this out. Now I have to wait 4-6 weeks for my new set and I have no idea how long they will add on to my time. I can continue my bottom teeth which were going to be done before my top ones anyway. I guess I'll update when I get my new ones.

Update! The top picture is day 1 of Invisalign. The bottom is about 4 and a half weeks in. I'm soooo excited my teeth are already moving. And no I haven't whitened them, apparently i rubbed butter on my teeth in the first picture, or it's bad lighting, whatever. Tomorrow is my 6 week mark which means I go to my dentist and get checked and get my next 3 sets of aligners. The Invisalign is still noticeable and sometimes I'm self conscious about it, but the results make it worth it. It's also still annoying brushing them but that's my life for the next 9 months. Cmonnnn perfect teeth!

i just read your Invisalign post and i'm in the same boat as you with the notches they don't tell you about until you're laying back in the chair getting them put on :| i have them on every single one of my front teeth so i'm very self-conscious about them but i suppose i better get used to them, considering i'll have them there for the next year.

yeah its pretty upsetting finding out that invisalign isnt exactly all its cracked up to be. im on week 3 though and honestly i forget theyre there. they dont show up in pictures and as long as you arent in awful lighting, they still dont show up as much. yesterday was the first day i looked at my teeth and felt like i saw a difference so its totally worth the stupid jagged notches.

Just read your invisalign post. Good luck! I had actual braces from 5th to end of 7th grade and those things hurt like a bitch, & before that I had to have a palette expander because my mouth was too small, which meant I had this contraption on the roof of my mouth for like 6 months and my mom had to turn it with a KEY every night to make my mouth wider. YEAH, mouth things are NOT fun. So, I feel for you. It'll be worth it,even though you are already stunning! :)

Dear god that sounds AWFUL. but I'm looking forward to the results. Thanks :)

Anonymous asked:

Your dentist told you to eat with them in? That seems odd. Mine said not too. And I'm pretty sure the website says not to. And every dentist I've talked to said not to..

Yeah he did tell me to. But that lasted one time eating. I researched it too and nothing says to do that but my dentist said they found it's more effective the longer you keep them in. But I literally just ate yogurt with them in and it just collected the yogurt in my aligners. So dumb. I'm gonna talk to him about it on my 6 week appointment.

Invisalign

Well ladies and gentlemen, its been a long time. I recently got Invisalign so I thought I would try and document my progress on this here blog.

I started to become really self conscious about my teeth because my right front one overlaps the other and the one on the other side of it is pushed back a little and looks like I'm missing a fucking tooth in pictures. Since I'm not a pirate, its not a good look.

You can see the shadowed tooth pretty well (on your left, I'm the blonde) in this picture.

Close up of my teeth right before I got my Invisalign.

What Invisalign doesn't advertise, are the tooth colored notches they need to put on your teeth to make the aligners more effective. Its different for everyone, but it just so happened that I needed it across alllll my front teeth, LUCKY ME! I now introduce, not-so-invis-align...

So the plan is, 19 sets of aligners that I change every two weeks. Changing them is basically like tightening braces and also feels like you got punched in the mouth. Ten months isn't so bad, right?

Night one: holy fuck my teeth hurt, especially prying off the aligners to brush them and my teeth.

Fast forward to Set 2 : I just switched to my second set on Thursday, The pain isn't that bad, I just remind myself of how straight my teeth are going to be.

Annoyances: You're supposed to eat with them in. Tried that, ended up with more food in my aligners than in my stomach. Also, I cant feel where I'm chewing and my food doesn't taste as good. So, I decided they can fuck off and get out of my mouth while I'm eating. Which means running to the bathroom before and after any meal, I almost had a panic attack when I was at a restaurant with my boyfriend and his friend and I thought the place didn't have a bathroom. Its SUPER attractive ripping saliva-filled molds off of your teeth at the dinner table.

Also, brushing and flossing is already a lot of work, now I have two more sets of teeth to brush.

Okay the introduction to my Invisalign experience is over. Next time won't be so long.

At least they don't show up too much in pictures!
