Peeta sighed softly and looked at her “Of course you would see Prim in our daughter…” he said softly and took her hand. “You helped your mother with Prim when she was a baby, that was the first experience with a baby that you ever had Katniss, it would only make sense that you’re hurting over Prim” he frowned slightly “Eventually it’ll all subside, we are both in this together and you’ll be a wonderful mother”
He could see that she loved their daughter just like he did, she had loved her for so much longer than he had though. There was a saying that a woman becomes a mother when she first feels that there is a child inside of her, and the man becomes a father the second he lays eyes on the baby. This was all true, the father instincts had just set in when he realized that his baby girl would be coming into the world at any time.
He could already feel the overwhelming urge to protect her, just like he had felt about Katniss in the games. He thought a lot about the games in the previous weeks and it made him worry frequently, even though their little girl would never have her name entered in the reaping.
He kissed her back and wrapped his arms around her back and smiled softly. “I love you too Katniss, you’re everything that I could ever want in my life. You and our wonderful baby girl”
“Who would’ve thought, If you think back at the games. Or the days we barely spoke to one another. Look at us now, having a daughter.” Most people she was close to always thought she and Gale would end up together. But unfortunately that wasn’t really the case. She loves Peeta and only him. Or the fact that the two got married not a lot time ago. Katniss was never a girl that would have kids or get married. A lot just has changed over the years.
No blame there right. Her mother wasn’t around since her mother was in 13. The brunette didn’t blamed her mother for not wanting to return to 12 because of the loss of Prim. And also of her father. She sighs.
“I am just happy, our girl doesn’t have to face the things we had to face. One day we have to explain to her what had happened.” That wasn’t going to be really easy if you asked her. Running her hand through her hair.
“You mean everything to me, together with our little angel. I don’t know what I have to do without you Peeta.” The fact that she was scared that she was losing him, when he was captured by the Captiol. And got hijacked, just look at him now. Despite the few questions he asks from time to time, the old Peeta was back again. It took some time, but Katniss was gaining some patience during the years of course.
