Mika sighed softly and simply pulled the ex hunter into a hug and held her as close as she could. “Don’t trouble yourself Gretel.” She whispered against her ear and rubbed her back soothingly. “Hush…don’t blame yourself .” She tried to sooth. She felt extremely bad for the hunter. She knew the situation she was in was horrid, and she wanted to help as best as she could but she didn’t know how.

Gretel stiffened for a second, unsure of what to do, and then she hung onto her. It was the first time she had ever talked to somebody about what happened and she was too overwhelmed to do anything else. “I’m sorry,” she said, back shaking a bit as she tried to contain her sobs.

Mika shook her head and took Gretel ’ s cheeks in her hand and turned her so they faced each other. Wiping away the tears that fell from her eyes. “You are strong Gretel because you are a survivor. ” She whispered. “You are a much stronger person now than ever before. ” Mika said. “I am here for you now. No one is ever going to hurt you ever again. I promise.”

Gretel’s breath was ragid, her chest rising and falling rapidly. Her eyes flitted over Mika’s features, looking for truth but even when she saw it, she couldn’t force herself to believe it. “But I should’ve been able to stop them. I’m a fucking hunter for fucks sake.”

Mika looked up at Gretel, her eyes widened at her voice breaking down, and when she told her story the witch grew pale and she felt her heart strings pull. “Oh God, Gretel I am so sorry..” She said carefully gently placing a hand on her shoulder. “But do not think for a second that you are weak. You are strong, inside and out don’t ever let anything tell you different.” She said softly. “If I could I would love to tear apart those men with my bare hands. They’re such savages sometimes.” The witch sighed and took Gretel’s hand in hers. “I am here for you, no matter what you know that?”

She was shaking, the memories overwhelming her. She squeezed her eyes shut, trying to ignore them. “Yes, I was! Yes, I was. I should’ve been able to fight them off! I tried but I just... I couldn’t! I wasn’t strong enough.” She turned her face, a few tears falling. She had never actually dealt with the trauma of that night, and it was all hitting her now. “I didn’t even get to kill them myself...” she said in a near whisper.

Mika widened her eyes and immediately pulled away from Gretel. “Fuck I’m so sorry. ” She whined, couldn’t help but see what Gretel was feeling, since she was still touching her. “I’m so sorry I’m such an idiot.” Mika began to curse in Romanian, then slowly moved off Gretel ’s lap, sitting beside her with her hands in her hair, and hunched over.

Gretel’s heartbeat sped up, and she immediately started saying “No, no, no, it’s not you. It’s not you. Please don’t think it’s you. It’s me. I’m being fucking weak. It is not you,” she babbled, her voice cracking towards the end of the sentence. She couldn’t believe her weakness was hurting the one thing she still cared about. She looked away, her eyebrows furrowing as she tried to shove all tears away. Still looking at the ground, she shakily and lowly said “Look... A few years ago... A few years ago... A few men... They tried to rape me... And I’m still a little touchy, but it wasn’t you, it wasn’t you at all. I liked kissing you, I’m just fucking weak, I’m sorry, I’m so sorry.”

Mika hadn’t kissed someone since she laid with the man who knocked her up. She wasn’t one for relationships because she was too busy with Nikolai. But she wanted Gretel. No matter how badly she resisted. The witch gave a small gasp when Gretel pulled her closer, she couldn’t help but climb onto her lap to press their body’s together. But she pulled back, to catch her breath, laying her forehead against the hunter’s. “I’m sorry..I’m not sure what came over me.” She said breathlessly.

Gretel tensed slightly as she climbed into her lap, but she relaxed again, managing to keep her thoughts away from that. “No, no, it’s okay. I... I liked it,” she admitted, blushing. She looked up at her, and for a second, she was fine, but then her mind went back to those men, and she couldn’t help but shiver, averting her eyes quickly.

Mika smiled when Gretel began to stutter when she pulled back from the kiss. It was strange to see her so flustered, usually the hunter was calm and quiet, rough around the edges, but she had never seen her open up so much. Mika scooted closer as Gretel continued to stutter and leaned in for another kiss, only this time pushing it for a longer one.

Gretel remained flustered until she kissed her. Again, she froze but only for a second this time. Then she got with the program, realizing what was happening and what she wanted to happen. She kissed back, nearly eagerly, and tentatively put a hand on Mika’s back, softly pulling her closer.

“You are being shy!” Mika laughed. “Look at you, you’re blushing like crazy.” She pointed out. The witch took a deep breath and finally, after much anticipation, leaned in and gently placed a kiss on Gretel’s lips. “That’s for saving my ass today.” She said quickly pulling away.

“No, I’m not!” the ex-huntress fought, chuckling in the process. Gretel froze when she kissed her, only even kissing her back in the last second before she pulled away. She blinked a few times, eyes wide. That had just happened. That had just happened and she liked it. “Uh, th-thank you— I mean, no problem, no problem,” she stuttered out, looking away as an even more prominent blush crept up her face.

Mika tilted her head curiously ar Gretel ’s behavior, doing as told and carefully sitting down so she wouldn’t open her stitches. She understood why Gretel acted the way she did and she was fine with that, it’s not easy having to deal with such a thing as affection , especially when one hasn’t been around it in such a long time. Mika scooted closer to Gretel and gently tilted her chin up so she could look in Gretel ’ s eyes, it made Mika smile. “I cannot tell, are you being shy with me?” She giggled.

Gretel, so lost in her feeling of happiness, didn’t eve tense when Mika tilted her chin up. And then incredulous shock filled her face. “I’m never shy!” she proclaimed, trying to be serious but a smile was already creeping onto her face. “Never!” she stated once more, chuckles mixing in with her words.

Mika widened her eyes when Gretel said she was done. “What already?” She looked down at her waist seeing how she was stitched up already. She slowly sat up and gasped at the sharp pain. “Well you are certainly fast.” She chuckled, then her face fell. “I..there’s another memory that I thought about instead…I think it’s my best memory I have so far.” She said sitting up straight and blushing softly. “Meeting you. Having you here with me. I just, I would be dead without you, and God knows what would happen to my son. So knowing you’re here with me. It makes me so fucking happy.” She admitted.

“Already,” Gretel said with a slight grin, only to reach out and grab her when she hissed. “Just because they’re done doesn’t mean they won’t hurt if you do that,” she pointed. “Come on, sit down.” Gretel blushed — something extremely rare coming from her— and looked down, smile creeping on her face. It filled her with a feeling she didn’t know how to describe, a happiness that very rarely touched her. “Thank you,” she muttered, smile becoming even more prominent. She never looked up though; truth be told, she didn’t really know how to do deal with affection. “I’m, um, I’m glad really, really glad I met you too.”

“It’s embaressing. I don’t like crying in front of people, especially you. But you’re such a trooper. You took more damage than I, and already I was crying over a small flesh wound.” She closed her eyes and swallowed. “My favorite memory? Oh that’s hard.” She thought for a moment. “I guess I would say it was with my brother. He took such good care of me. I remeber when I was about five years old. We were playing outside of the coven house, in Russia. We were playing hide and seek, and I decided to hide in the trees. I climbed this big oak tree and hid myself high in the leaves. But. I got stuck. I started crying and I was afraid Pietro wouldn’t find me. Just the thought of not having him around made me cry. But he heard me call out for him and he helped me down. And I remeber he held me against his chest and told me I was very brave to go into the woods, or even climb so high up in the tree. Pietro hates hights. He was deathly afriad. But he knew that I was in trouble, and he knew he had to save me. ” She paused feeling tears form in her eyes but they were happy tears. “I knew from that day on, my brother really truly cared of me. And it was the happiest day of my life because I never felt closer to him before.” She sighed. “It’s weird to say but I see a lot of my brother in my son. ” she smiled.

“Hey, don’t feel embarrassed crying with me. I’m only a ‘tropper’ because I’ve sustained so many injuries. There’s nothing good about it. Better to cry, trust me,” she said. Gretel looked at her intently as she began speaking, ever so slowly beginning to stitch her up as she spoke. Her hope was she would be so wrapped in the memory that she wouldn’t even notice it. “It’s not weird at all. It’s really sweet,” Gretel said softly, remembering her own brother. “I’m all done,” she said, motioning to her newly finished stitches.

Mika sniffled softly at the pain and wiped away some tears . “ Fuck that hurts so bad.” She whimpered. “Here let me lay down.” She said and laid on her side so Gretel could tend to her wound. “I’m sorry…” she said quietly.

She helped her lie down, setting her against the bed softly. “Don’t apologize. I... I’ve never told anyone this but the first few times I got stitches, I bawled like a fucking baby,” she confessed, a light blush on her cheeks. “Okay. I have to stitch you up so it doesn’t get infected. So here’s what I want you to do,” she started while she got the needle out and threaded it. “ Tell me about your favorite memory. All of it. I want every detail.” She was hoping she could distract her.

Mika gave another whined and stood in between Gretel ’ s legs and held onto her shoulders. She gasped and let out a small yelp of pain as the rag was placed against her waist. “Ouch fuck!’ She squeezed her fingers and nails into Gretel ’ s shoulders and squeezed her eyes shut.

Gretel flushed as she stood between her legs. She was eye level with her chest, and her standing where she was felt so... Well, she couldn’t think of that. “Shhh, shhh, shhhh. We’re almost done,” she whispered, squeezing her hand softly. Finally, she pulled the rag off. “Look, look, that part’s done.”

Avatar

“Yes you are and not another word.” Mika said with a smile. But when it was her turn to be fix, her face went pale. “Do have to? You know I don’t like needles.” She whined . But she proceeded to take off her shirt.

She arched an eyebrow, amused smile playing on her face. “I’mNotPretty,” she said quickly, chuckling as she did. “Yeah, or else it could get infected. But hey, don’t worry. I’ll be gentle,” she said softly. She poured the antiseptic on the rag, and said “This is going to sting, okay? Just look at me.” She took one of her hands before pressing the rag to the wound.

“It means my beautiful one.” Mika said softly. “Not that bad? Don’t make me laugh Gretel.’ She sighed and flinched when she cursed. She cleaned up the wound as best as she could before she threaded a needle and began to stitch up the hunter. "At least you haven’t lost an entire arm ” She breathed thankfully. “That I wouldn’t be able to stitch up so easily.” She finished, and then began to wrap up the stitches in gaze. “There..”

Gretel laughed at that. “I am not beautiful,” she stated simply, still chuckling. Gretel didn’t even flinch as she worked the needle through her skin. She was more than use to it. “That’s true. Keeping the arm is good.” she said in a teasing tone. “Thanks. Now come on. I need to stitch you up. You know that.”
