It’s maddening to find out that the scholar who first developed the idea that “Zionism is Settler Colonialism”, Fayez Sayegh, was a member of the Syrian Nazi Party during and immediately after the Holocaust, was an active participant in the Red Scare, using it to demonize Israel as a manifestation of a Global Communist Threat™️ through the height of the Cold War (true to his Nazi roots, accusing Israel of Judeo-Bolshevism) before switching to a Colonialism narrative when Post-Colonialism came in vogue in the 60s. And yet, the people I hear parroting the talking points of this anti-Communist, Ultranationalist Fascist-turned-scholar are the people who are constantly talking about how Liberal Progressives aren’t Communist enough and actually enemies because “Liberals will always side with Fascists”. Maddening.

If you’ve ever noticed how the “Zionism = Settler Colonialism” narrative eerily shares the core components of the far right’s Replacement Theory (that there are 1. Jews 2. conspiring to invade a given place and 3. replace the population with Jews), this is why; it’s because the idea that Zionism is Settler Colonialism came from a literal Nazi.

It is very literally Nazi propaganda.

How many times must Hamas be proven (or admit to be in this case) to be lying for pro-palestine idiots to understand you can't trust terrorists and they've been spoonfed a false version of these events by the media in Gaza since the start?

Avatar

We all know Hamas are evil murderers who don’t even try to hide the fact that they’re inhumane as they broadcast their sickening acts for the world to see.

But can we all take a moment to appreciate sanctimonious Tumblr terrorist-sympathisers?

How many instances are there of comments or messages from this platform’s best and brightest that threaten someone pro-Israel with violence?

How many comments are there telling supporters of Israel to kill themselves or some other wildly inventive iteration of the insult? Even on posts that are mourning the deaths of the innocent, and condemning the brutal murders of men, women, children, and animals, these people are relentless.

I do often wonder what they think comments like that achieve relative to their larger cause. It doesn’t solve anything at all, and if anything, hinders support for their side if the only meaningful additions they can make are death threats.

It’s very telling that they can’t make any coherent arguments or rebuttals and they resort to aggressive ad hominem attacks. They don’t have anything significant or mature to contribute to the discourse. They don’t want to engage in the conversation.

It’s almost as if their instincts are to just automatically attack someone for their beliefs and call for violence against them… like terrorists…

Birds of a feather, eh?

Hamas fanbois operate solely on hatred and rage.

Pathetic, really.

PALESTINE WAS NEVER A COUNTRY!

This is historically incorrect.

The British Mandate for Palestine (1918-1948) was created looooong after Shakespeare wrote the above play (Othello the Moore) between 1567 and 1616. Palestine has ALWAYS been and will ALWAYS be a country.

Ooh, this is gonna be fun.

Okay. First: if a certain region is called in a certain name, it doesn't mean it's a country.

Secondly:

Israel (1948-now)

Before that, the British Mandate on Palestine (1920-1948):

Not a country.

Before that, the Ottoman empire (1516-1918):

Not a country.

Before that, the Mamluk Sultanate (1258-1516):

Not a country.

Before that, the crusades (1096-~1250)

Not a Palestinian country.

Before that, the Muslim conquest (~600-1074):

Not a Palestinian country.

Before that, the Eastern Roman empire - the Byzantine empire (390-634):

Not a Palestinian country.

Before that, the Roman empire (64BCE-390):

And before that, there are even more empires, but it isn't important, because there was something else in this area in that time:

Kingdoms of Israel and Judea

Before that were the Canaanites, a few minority nations that lived in the area that are now extinct (nobody really knows what happened to them).

So, no. No Palestine.

The name itself, Palestine, was given to the region during the Roman empire. They named it as some sort of a "fuck you" to the Jews that lived in Judea in that time, in an act that was meant to erase the history of Jews in Judea.

It was named after the Philistines, a small nation that lived in the area as well. And no, nowadays Palestinians aren't descendants of them. The Philistines are gone.

The Jews, on the other hand, are most certainly not.

Now, a point to think about:

If Palestine existed as you claim, can you tell me when it was established? What was the name of the prime minister/king/whoever else that ruled it? What were the borders? What was the army? Coin? Passport?

There was no Palestine. It was never a country.

Do your fucking research.

Also, facts: "Palestine" is derived from the Hebrew biblical word for "invader".

So, there's that.

I see a lot of posts saying "teach boys about consent".

While that is true, a lot of parents will do that and fail to see how their own actions are the problem.

If you've spanked him, he's less likely to understand consent.

If you've forced him to sit on Santa's lap, he's less likely to understand consent.

If you've forced him to give hugs and kisses to family members, he's less likely to understand consent.

If you've grabbed him in order to force him to sit still, he's less likely to understand consent.

If you've labeled him as "too sensitive" for not wanting to be touched, he's less likely to understand consent.

If you've assumed he's okay with something because he technically allowed it even though he felt pressured, he's less likely to understand consent.

If you're only going to criticize his actions but not your own, it won't work.

I am a firm believer that it's not just what he experiences in his life, but what he witnesses too. Okay so you don't do any of those to him but you do those things to his sisters? His cousins? His mom? He is learning consent is for him hut not for women.

One of my sisters has young children, both of whom are some flavor of neurodivergent. She is too, and as a result she often lost patience quickly with some of their quirks. The biggest offender is that her kids are extremely wary around anyone they deem to be a stranger, making social connection very difficult for all participants.

When I first met her daughter, she was 3 or 4, and was extremely reluctant to come and meet me. My sister began to shame and push and pull her towards me and I stopped her. I said "don't force her, don't teach her that she has to let men she doesn't know touch her, she doesn't need to hug me"

My sister froze in place, processed it for a moment, and let her daughter go. She went back to hiding behind mom. We continued our conversation and her son slowly approached me, hugged me, and climbed up onto the chair I was in to sit beside me and partially in my lap. After a few minutes, her daughter joined him. She didn't hug me, but she came over to touch and talk to me.

My sister was speechless. Her kids DON'T do that. I've heard many complaints from many family members about how antisocial they are. All I did was stick up for their right to offer or withdraw consent- and really just her daughter's, as her son had met me pre-covid and had already gotten over the hurdle at 2 years old, but her daughter was born during covid and thus it made her severe distrust of strangers even worse.

Now her kids are in elementary school and making friends easily and I regularly get stories from her about how she witnesses them connect with other socially withdrawn kids and stand up for both themselves and their quieter friends. She took my advice to heart and started allowing them to voice whether they consented to something and now her little boy will approach a crying kid on the playground and say something like "do you want to play, or do you want me to just sit with you, or do you want to be alone?" and then actually listen to what the other kid tells him.

My niece has an incredibly traumatized boy in her class who escaped war with his family, and he doesn't talk to anyone. But he visibly relaxes when my niece goes to sit next to him when he's too scared and curled up in the classroom's Quiet Corner. She reads to him and shows him her toys and holds his hand on field trips and yells at anyone who is mean to him. I'm told she's the only person who can approach or touch him without causing a meltdown besides his family, and it started because the first time she sat with him she asked if it was okay if she did so and she waited several minutes for him to nod before she sat down.

But they still avoid the family members that forced them to interact even when they were uncomfortable. I still hear those complaints, hundreds of miles away, and the jealousy that I've only met the kids a few times but they talk incessantly about me. If I call one of my family members and the kids are over, I can hear them in the background trying to talk to me if they figure out it's me on the other line.

Anyway. Long story short I didn't have to advocate for my nephew the way I did my niece, but advocating for my niece in front of the both of them dramatically changed the way both of them were taught to manage social interaction. Consent isn't just about teaching the boy. It's also making sure he sees that consent being practiced with everyone.

Parenting 👏 Done 👏 Right!

it's still crazy to me that the taylor swift private jet pollution thing isn't like, a running joke, she actually produced an unnecessary amount of pollution because of how often she uses private jets. she should've voiced the onceler in the lorax instead of that red haired girl

She actively continues to produce huge and entirely unnecessary amounts of pollution because of her frequent use of private jets. It has not stopped. Don’t let this disappear. Don’t let it be swept under the rug. Taylor Swift is actively and single-handedly contributing more to climate change yearly—even monthly—than some people in the modern era will contribute in their entire lives.

In 2022, Taylor Swift’s personal private jet-trips alone emitted 8,293.54 tonnes of carbon dioxide. That is more than the annual per capita global emissions of 1,713 people combined. You want that in USAmerican terms? That’s more than the annual per capita emissions of 574 USAmericans, which includes her personal jets’ emissions and all her other emissions in the averaging calculations, since Taylor Swift is herself a USAmerican.

That’s not her total annual emission statistic. I want to call attention to that. That is exclusively how much she emitted through private jet travel alone. 8,293.54 tonnes of carbon dioxide isn’t even the whole picture.

Do not ignore this. Do not forget this. Do not stop talking about it. It is real. It is killing us. She is killing us.

(And yes, she should’ve voiced the onceler. That’s an excellent comparison to a character who was destroying his world and was still beloved by the people of it.)

Gazans could leave through Egypt also. If the egyptians would allow it. Ever wonder why they don't?

Hamas is waging war from protected civilian buildings and using civilians as human shields. Both of which are war crimes. Every single death, Israeli or Palestinian, soldier or civilian, is the fault of Hamas.

to clarify:

  • watts is being charged with felony abuse of a corpse, nothing to do with abortion.
  • watts was 22 weeks pregnant. after pain and bleeding, she went to the hospital. they decided she needed an induction as the fetus was not viable, but allegedly debated for around 8 hours. she went home without being induced. induced delivery is not against the law and has nothing to do with abortion law.
  • watts had a miscarriage at home and the child ended up in her toilet. the toilet clogged with the baby, placenta, tissue, etc.. she took out some of the tissue and put it outside near her garage on the ground, repeatedly flushed and plunged the toilet, and then went to a hair appointment. the hairdresser noticed she looked unwell, so she took her to the hospital.
  • when at the hospital, a nurse asked where her baby's remains were, and the nurse called law enforcement, who went to watts' house to investigate.
  • the police had to take apart her toilet and pipes, and finally found her baby wedged in the pipes after she had flushed and plunged them down the toilet.

brittany watts is not being charged for having a miscarriage, she is being charged for felony abuse of a corpse after flushing and plunging the corpse of her child down the toilet.

for reference, this is what a baby born at 22 weeks looks like. children have been born at 22 weeks and survived. she did not miscarry a small "clump of cells".

and if you're wondering how completely biased the media is portraying this case, here are some headlines:

how "human animals" treat hostages

how "civilized democratic human beings" treat "prisoners" and "under 18s"

EDIT: someone told me to add this context. the lady on the left is Israa Jaabis, she was charged with "terrorist bombing" in 2015 after her car caught on fire and blew up as a result of an electric malfunction. at the time of the incident the officers on the scene neglected to offer her immediate medical support which exacerbated her conditions. oppression isn't always direct, a lot of times it is through neglecting the oppressed or treating them as lesser

don't stop talking about palestine

You trying to act like the hostages being forced to smile at people still holding their family hostage means they were treated well is hilarious.

If they were treated well they wouldn't be hostages. Pull your head from your ass, Hamas did not treat people who's family would be executed if they badmouthed them on camera well.

Also, you tags? It was delayed by Israel because Hamas launched missiles at them shortly after the Ceasefire was called.

Hey, the woman in that "before/after" photo? That damage wasn't done by Israel, that damage was done when the bomb she was carrying went off early and burned her.

Do you have proof of that?

Why am I not surprised?? A pro-palestine person lying? My gods, it's almost like these people are just spreading lies and propaganda because they hate Israel or something.

These people are legit infuriating. They do realize this shit means they're going to make it so people don't trust them at all when they talk about something that is actually true, right????

Well the people making it likely don't care. if they get a few useful idiots to parrot it, good for them, the main point is to drown out everything else and convince their opponents that they're alone.

I miss the days when, no matter how slow your internet was, if you paused any video and let it buffer long enough, you could watch it uninterrupted

If you use Firefox, you can go to the about:config page, search for "media.mediasource.enabled" and double click on it to set it to false. After you restart Firefox, all youtube videos will load entirely even when paused! This also affects other streaming websites :)
