The City Below

@adanska / adanska.tumblr.com

Hello! I'm Betsy aka Adanska. I'm a writer on occassion; an easily searchable database of my stuff is at fe_masterlist, which also contains the stories for Fe, my main original universe (the right colomn has more tag options). I also am on AO3 as, you guessed it, Adanska, which may do you better fic-wise (although I usually take forever to update it whoops).
Right now I'm pretty much in the middle of Star Wars hell, so now my blog is a third Star Wars, social issues, and ladies, some of whom are warriors.
For the record, I am white and cis, so if I misstep, please, let me know!
My user previous icon came from a loose sketch by the amazingly talented Nonvieta.

all goofing aside I genuinely don't understand the urge to reimagine Taylor Allison Swift as a secretly queer icon when the pop music scene(TM) is like. literally overflowing with women who actually like women. Gaga and Kesha and Miley and Halsey are right there. Rina Sawayama and Hayley Kiyoko and Rebecca Black and Kehlani and Victoria Monét and Miya Folick if you're willing to get slightly less top 100. Janelle and Demi for them nonbinary takes on liking girls. like what are we doing here. like I'm not even saying you can't enjoy Taylor but why would you hang all your little gay hopes on her.

Isn’t Lady Gaga bisexual?

yes that is indeed why she's on the list of famous women who like women

why have multiple people reblogged this with some horse-assed "um actually most of these people are bi or pan" did I fucking stutter I said they like girls. what is your point. I'm going to kill you.

POV: you make a good post and then encounter tumblr reading comprehension

btw to just clarify for anyone who sees this reblog of this post

op is basically saying something along the lines of "yea ik taylor swift is bi but like. why is she y'all's only lgbtq+ pop icon when there are all these other lgbtq+ people in the pop scene???"

i might have worded this badly but hopefully i got the main point across

hi op here I certainly did not fucking say Taylor Swift is bi

Op is saying that liking Taylor for being QUEER or Lgbtqia+ is not a bad thing, but to also know she is not the only one.

He did not call anyone in the original post lesbian bi or pan.

He did call two people NB

you have to be fucking with me there's no way

i feel like there's a. semi-concerning amount of people who think that joker junior happened to mainline tim. so as a refresher, here's some things that did and didn't happen to mainline tim:

did happen:

  • ✅️ fought against the joker with the help of his d&d group, eventually outthinking him
  • ✅️ got choked out in batcave by azbats
  • ✅️ got ebola and almost died (the clench was an ebola virus)
  • ✅️ ebola came back
  • ✅️ ran away to paris after a kid from his school died, came back to find out gotham utterly destroyed by earthquake
  • ✅️ gotham kicked out of united states, becomes the face of that whole mess after he gets very famously extracted from the exclusion zone by the federal government
  • ✅️ almost eaten by killer croc at least once a year, three years in a row
  • ✅️ almost eaten by charaxes (at least twice)
  • ✅️ dad and girlfriend die within the same week
  • ✅️ ended up in a warzone at least 3 times
  • ✅️ (sigh) has lex luthor trying to manipulate a bad future in which he and his friends become bad
  • ✅️ ...and many more

things that did not happen to mainline tim

  • ❌️ became joker junior at any point or time. this is a dcau event only, that happens to a tim that has jason-lite elements put into his backstory because the dcau wanted to do the story flavors of jason while having the name recognition of tim in the 90s.

Something I noticed with Grievous

Clone Wars runs more on George Lucas' idea for Grievous, that being a cackling over the top villain who talks big but runs away at every threat to his life, and to that end we often see Grievous fighting weaker opponents while being backed up by droid squads, often turning tail and running whenever the fight goes against him or his opponent's backup arrives

But there is an exception to this

Obi-Wan Kenobi

When he's around, Grievous does significantly better, matching Obi-Wan in fights, going without backup, and being less prone to running

See, my thought is that Grievous isn't actually a weak fighter or anything, thanks to his augmentations he is very much a match for most Jedi, but no amount of body modification can fix his fundamental personality flaw: Grievous is a bully, he picks on people because he can do so safely and folds when he is not safe

But Obi-Wan is the exception, Grievous hates Obi-Wan so much that his typical instincts of cowardly self preservation lose out to bloodlust and hatred, Grievous is so consumed by it that he at times fights when he should just run, until it proves fatal for him

Having BIG™ feelings about how most of the Jedi that survived Order 66 were literal children.

Children whose brothers turned on them, and whose parental figures were ripped from them for reasons that they would never understand. Children who didn't know how to live in a galaxy who accepted them, much less one that didn't. Children who had to shed the identity they'd had longer than they could remember just to survive. Children who watched as their people were labeled terrorists and the things they held sacred were desecrated to the purpose of hurting the people they were made to protect.

Children who had to pick up the (often literal) sword of those who'd come before them to protect innocents and hold onto what scraps of their culture that were left. That, to their limited knowledge, believed themselves to be the very last of their kind. Children who bore the weight of bringing justice to the deaths of thousands of their kin, not through revenge, but through the restoration of peace. Who in the fight towards peace, had to once again become weapons instead of peacemakers.

Of them training padawans when they were technically still padawans themselves. Who had to teach what broken pieces of their culture that they could still remember, because they were still learners when they stopped learning. Who taught in the middle of surviving in a galaxy that was out to get them on all sides. Whose padawans never got the chance to go to Ilum, or see the Temple on Coruscant, or bond with other padawans, or any other experience that should've been theirs by birthright.

If I think about it for too long my brain stops working and I cry.
