Why is it that being able-bodied is overlooked in the discussion of privilege? So far in college, 3 of my courses have had similar lessons about privilege. Disability, or lack thereof, hasn’t been brought up once. People with disabilities are left out even when talking about different kinds of discrimination. As a person with a disability, I’m tired of my oppression being left out of the discussion.

The fact that people aren’t generally aware that it’s legal to pay disabled workers below minimum wage — section 14(c) of the Fair Labor Standards Act — proves how little attention disabled people get.
