(Hey all! I’m so sorry for disappearing for a few months. Many things changed, and I got very, very busy. I’m trying to get back. So, if I owe you a reply, please like this post. Otherwise I’ll make a couple open starters and a starter call.)

Toby had decided to head to the park with Grim again, hoping to get some fresh air. He seemed to be in a good mood, casually floating next to his beloved as he stayed close to her. Thank the gods that nobody was watching or questioning the reaper's existence, though some people would stop to glance at Toby and Grim, just to give a small wave of greeting.

Grim was happy to walk in the park. Even happier to have Toby with her. She held his hand, simply enjoying the fresh air. She waved back to those who greeted them. It surprised her how well the general populace took seeing a reaper.

Suffice it to say, Grim did not know where she was. All she knew was that one moment she was fighting her target and the next she was in what appeared to be some sort of city. No doubt it was a last ditch effort from her enemy to be rid of her. However, she need not concern herself with that. In her condition, she could not really search for him and fight. She needed to get somewhere she could hide in and tend to her wounds.

The city in question is dark, grimey, gritty, and animated. Sever Doodles are dropping anvils on each other, chasing each other with comically large, animated guns, setting traps for other Doodles or getting caught in said traps. A couple of them stop and look at the new face. One of them is a Doddle in a purple Zoot suit.

“Lady, ya might wanna take three steps to the left,” He tells the new comer. Above her, on top of a building is a Doodle ready to drop an overly large water balloon on a Doodle that’s standing nearby.

“So what job exactly are we talking about? I’ve only got a tiny bit of details to work with,” he muses as they eat.

“Grim did not give you much information, did she?” She hummed softly, thinking about how to best describe it. “Well… That particular… Grim guesses Doodle, had been causing drastic changes to Earth’s timeline. Grim was hired to kill him. He created a gang in response, and our little battle had been going on for… God, Grim does not know how long. At least a year or two. Grim… Well, she needed to watch her own back because of her enemies…”

Neither Grim nor Skippy could be prepared for what fate threw at them. Sure, they had experience with the supernatural. Yes, they were hunting down a demon.

But they knew nothing of their family’s past.

Grim knew absolutely nothing, blaming amnesia. Skippy knew about some of their family, but the stories ended after going back some generations. She simply knew how they trained to fight, and that they used their skills to assassinate.

Grim was in the middle of a regular walk through nature. She found it calming, a means to help keep Skippy in check. Being around people… It was all well and good, but she often found herself stressing out.

She paused, taking a deep breath until she heard the sound of a twig breaking. She froze at that, listening for anything else. She hoped it was merely a wild animal, but she could sense something else was there.

The armoured figure continued to stare, slowly turning its head to watch her walk off... Completely silent, not even any breathing coming from the figure at it loomed in the grass... Well, at least it did not try to attack her like the ghoul, which has long gone by now, probably off trying to attack something else or being eaten itself.

She was not particularly happy. Her paranoia was just screaming at her, telling her not to turn her back to the figure. She quickly looked back, seeing that they were staring at her. “…What? What do you want from me?”

"I am not too fond of the rain. It feels weird on my fur.. Do you know anywhere I can take shelter?"

Cynemaer enjoyed the rain. It reminded him of simpler times. A time before humans took away one of the most precious people on the Earth. He looked over at the stranger, a slight smile on his face. “There are a few hotels. But if you’re looking to be away from most humans, I own a building nearby. You can stay there until the rain calms.”

The ghoul continued to chase, its arms swinging wildly from side to side as it charged for Grim with its gargling growls and snarls spilling from its rotting maw, no tiredness could stop it, no inch of fatigue. It got to the same tree as she did, started clawing at the bark with raspy hisses and snarls whilst cracked fingernails shaved off chunks of wood as it tried to get to her, struggling to climb. Struggling... Until now, it found grip and was slowly making its way up, but with every inch up it slid down two, peeling wood and dead skin at the same time from friction.

She cursed under her breath, trying to keep distance between herself and the ghoul. She did not want Skippy to take control. The other would likely just go back to the city to do as she pleased. But she was running out of choices. She may need to use that last resort.

On the slim chance someone else was there, she decided to yell. “Help! Please! If anyone can hear me, help!”

The ghoul continued its slow, struggling climb, snarling and growling as it kept trying to climb up the tree, her screaming for help only spurred its mindless bloodlust on before it suddenly just... Stopped... Slid down the tree and stared up at her before it turned to amble over to the other side towards the bushes... Because now there’s a new figure standing there, when it wasn’t moments ago, a tall figure, imposing... Like it’s clad in armour and wrapped in a cloak, two glowing blue orbs for eyes peering up at Grim.

She should have been relieved that the immediate danger was gone. The ghoul was no longer seeking to do her harm. However, she knew it may not be the end of the issue.

The new actor in all this stuck out like a sore thumb. An armored person in the forest. In a forest of an age that, as far as she was aware, armor was no longer as common. And the eyes… They were clearly not human. She knew the knife she had would not be able to pierce the armor. She was pretty much stuck in the tree and at their mercy.

“…W-Was he with you?”

The armour clad figure just stared up at the trapped Grim, silent and practically unmoving aside from the occasional breeze blowing the lower end of the cloak off to the side... The ghoul meanwhile just wandered idly around, drooling and growling as it looked for other things, though oddly enough it wasn’t going for Grim despite her being right there.

She waited until her initial attacker was a bit further away. She wanted to wait until the stranger also left, but it seemed he was not moving. She kept her eye on the being as she climbed down. She could not risk another attack.

“…Well, it was… a pleasure meeting you, Good bye,” Grim said as she tried to walk away from them.

“You’re welcome, doll,” he grins.

He fixes his own plate and two drinks. He joins her and carefully hands her one of the two drinks.

As they ate, she began to think. While, yes, she could build her life up in this world, she still needed time to get used to it. She had been on the hunt for so long… She would not doubt if she ended up somewhat paranoid. Even if she knew she was in less danger. “…Grim still cannot believe that job is over…”

He smiles softly. He then pauses and presses a soft kiss to her cheek. He’s read about different places and times of the Real World. He’s read about different customs and social norms of those places and times. The last thing he wants to do is make her nervous or upset ot make some social faux pas.

A heavy blush crept its way onto her cheeks. She was not upset, nor was she really nervous. She was simply unused to being in such situations. Unsure what all could be considered normal behavior. “Do you need any help with anything else?”

He can’t help but grin upon seeing the blush. “I’m good, Doll,” he tells her. He works on finishing up breakfast and plates some of he food an carefully offers the plate to her.

She smiled softly, leaning against the counter. She could not help but watch him as he cooked. She wished she could do more, but she knew she would likely burn something.

As he offered her the plate, she took it. As she walked to the couch, she looked over her shoulder. “Thank you, dear.”

The twig breaking continued as something ambled and shuffled through the woods, it was uneven with how the walking sounded, like someone or something was dragging their feet on the dirt, twigs and leaves. It soon became apparent it wasn’t an animal, not in the traditional sense, this was a mindless ghoul, undead, shuffling through the woods whilst it just sniffed and gargled. Was it one random ghoul or was there someone or something else controlling it?

She had little to no experience with such undead. Most of what she and Skippy fought at least had some form of intelligence. This… thing seemed to simply run on some sort of instinct.

Carefully, Grim decided to move. She knew that she needed to get away from it. If it was alone, that would be an easy feat. If not…

She did not want to think about those possibilities.

She tried to make as little noise as possible, walking slowly and deliberately. However, she could not silence her movements completely. There were just too many things under foot. Leaves, twigs, stones, even the grass could make some noise to give her away. She could only hope that it could not hear and that it was not after her.

The ghoul seemed to be rather... Passive, that was until it stopped suddenly and jolted upright, bones cracking and popping as it let out gargled huffs and snorts, sniffing the air before it turned its head to face the two of them... Then it let out a horrific screech, louder than what should be reasonably possible as a blue light lit up in its eyesockets, immediately rushing to pile on the closest one if it even could! It couldn’t speak, but if it could it’d probably be screeching something about bodies and fresh meat.

Adrenaline hit Grim, and it hit hard. She was regretting not listening to her gut instinct. She may have had knives, but Skippy was the one who fought best with them. Grim was much more a marksman. So she did the only thing she could think of.

She bolted. She did not pay attention to where she was going. She was hoping to find a place the ghoul could not get to. She was not going to hide in a small space. She did not wish to know how the thing would contort to fit in anything. She instead opted to try to find a claimable tree.

It would be a risk, yes. She could easily be slowed during the climb. Not only that, but the creature may be able to climb. However, it would be the easiest way to escape. As soon as she found one, she started her ascent. She could only hope her escape route would work.
