do you want to see a movie where you have no idea what is going on for the first forty-five minutes? jupiter ascending is the film for you! other highlights include:

  • a ten minute long spaceship fight with no context or purpose, which destroys a city. “no one will remember” channing tatum growls as they leave the city, as if youtube does not exist
  • “here’s a latke for you, bitch”
  • someone using a menstrual pad as a bandage by slapping the sticky part onto the wound, leaving the actual blood-absorbing part just kind of…waving around
  • actors chewing the scenery so hard i’m surprised beautifully over-constructed bits of space metal aren’t just falling out of their mouths
  • a man trying to shoot thousands of bees in the middle of a cornfield
  • a gun that makes dog noises. it barks. the gun barks. 
  • oedipus complexes so beautifully twisted and terrible that you will spend half the movie mouthing “oh my god” to yourself
  • related to that, the climactic line of the movie is “i’m not your damn mother,” so take that as you will
  • a breathtakingly gorgeous and complex universe used as a background for a romance between woman and a man. granted, the man is a wolf angel. but still.

Ward Locations and Relations to TG Characters

If you are unaware of the fact, the actual city of Tokyo has 23 wards.

The only Tokyo Ghoul ward missing is the 24th ward, which is fictional.

First, let’s start with the CCG. The CCG is located in the Heart of Central Tokyo - on the map above it is Chiyoda (Ward 1). It is the least populated of all wards, with around 55 thousand residents. It is the political center of Japan - it is the location of the Supreme Court, the Prime Minister’s residence, and the House of Representatives. It makes a lot of sense for the main CCG building to be located there.

Anteiku is in the 20th ward, or in Nerima. It has the largest area of agricultural land in all the wards, and is known as the birthplace of anime. It is rather far away from Chiyoda, and that is probably planned, becuase there are not as many CCG members in the 20th ward. It is also decently far away from Oota, which is Aogiri’s homebase.

Oota, as just mentioned, is Aogiri Tree’s homebase. Generally, the Ward is well-known for it’s transportation -  the Haneda Airport is nearby. As well, Oota has the largest population amongst the wards - perfect for a hideout for numerous ghouls. The ward is far away from Chiyoda is well, for probably the exact same reason. As fun fact, Oota is the sister city of Salem, which I find as somewhat amusing, due to the Salem witch trials happening there

Hysy is in Shinjuku, which is close to the CCG, but also where Uta had lived as a teen, so that makes sense. It might also allude to his somewhat daring personality - he is someone that goes out of his way to occasionally mock the CCG, so being so close to them might help with that. As well, Shinjuku is the economic hub of Tokyo - many companies and businesses exist there, and since Hysy is a business, it is rather fitting.

The Ghoul restaurant is in Sumida - ironically, right between the CCG and Cochlea. It seems to be part of the extavangance - be close to the CCG, but don’t get caught, somewhat like Uta.

Cochlea is in Edogawa, which serves as both it’s benefit and downfall - the prisoners are far away from the rest of the wards, but the CCG would be unable to stop another escape happening due to having to get its’ officers so far away.
