a m/f plot where M and F grew up together in a small southern town, starting as childhood friends and ending up married in their late teen/early 20s. They’re young and naïve though, and getting married wasn’t the wisest decision — especially for F, who’s dreamed of leaving town her entire life to make a name for herself/find success in a big city. It’s F’s desire to leave that causes a rift between her and M, and this rift eventually breaks into a strong divide. With dreams of bigger and better things, F and M unofficially separate, and F moves away, leaving the only home and people she’s ever known. Ten years later, she’s found the success she was looking for. Now a socialite/fashion designer/lawyer etc. (something prestigious), F has moved on with her life and is newly engaged to an equally successful business man. Her past has been completely erased; she’s reinvented herself. The only problem? She must return to her hometown to get M to sign the divorce papers and officially annul their marriage.
