“Why didn’t RNJR take a train!?”

Trains are expensive. Given that RNJR was doing odd-job-Hunstman/tress work they were probably paying their way across the continent. We did have two homeless people, a runaway, and a kid with seven sisters on this adventure, none of them are rich. Farmboi only had to pay for the train, not a way across the ocean.

This was an issue going into the volume. Minivans exist in this world. The only reason for them to walk is because they’re a bunch of broke kids with half a plan. 

“Farmboi made the same trip in an hour!”

It’s entirely possible that Farmboi lived an hour away from Mistral. A single farm that far from society, not attacked by Grimm, makes sense they’re within running range. It would explain why a train would work, and why the tracks wouldn’t be destroyed by monsters. RNJR had half a continent to cross.

The Kingdoms were placed in landmarks with defensible geography. They’d need creeks and such to go inland and supply the Kingdom, and they have that massive pond to sustain fish, but a running body of water big enough to fit an ocean faring ship would be a considerable weakness in that defense. We literally saw a sea creature that fires lasers and could take sustained cannon fire. Smaller flows of water, with no chance of larger Grimm, makes way more sense.

Isn’t this more of a combination of selective breeding and GMOs? Not just GMOs?

Yes.  But people talk about how GMO’s are “unnatural”, yet for centuries humanity has been exploiting mutations in animals and plants to produce food for themselves.

GMO’s are simply the process of inducing these mutations reliably.

People hear “Lettuce being modified with scorpion DNA” and think that we’re now eating scorpions.  But, in reality, they’re taking a tiny bit of scorpion DNA and splicing it into the plant.  Why?  So the plant will produce poison that is not harmful to humans but will deter insects, reducing the use of pesticide, which CAN be harmful to humans and the environment.

GMOs are producing rice that can survive flooding, which makes rice more reliable yields and will prevent food shortages in poor nations that rely on said crops for staple food.

GMOs are also creating spider-goat hybrids.  Why? So we can splice web production into the goat’s udders.  We’ll be able to spin huge quantities of spider silk, enough to reliably create spider silk cables and ropes, which have more tensile strength than steel.

What is a legacy?

During the scene when Mulan decides to go to war instead of her father, she decides to do it while sitting on the foot of the Great Stone Dragon. The image of the dragon looking over Mulan is repeated several times throughout the sequence, and the bolts of lightning strike at significant times whenever the dragon is in sight. When Mulan takes her father’s scroll and when she is praying to her ancestors, the Great Stone Dragon can be seen. It is also engraved on the sword Mulan uses to cut her hair and the handles of the wardrobe containing the armor are in the shape of the dragon’s head. The dragon’s eyes glowing in the temple symbolizes Mulan’s role as protector of her family awakening, instead of the actual dragon.

The reason Mushu couldn’t wake the dragon is because the dragon was no longer there. Mulan is implied to be the Great Dragon that protects her family.
