J.E.H. MacDonald - True North
Well, this is an odd news story from the world of Canadian art… A group of ten J.E.H. MacDonald paintings that were literally buried for more than 30 years are going to be on exhibition at the Vancouver Art Gallery this fall, never having been shown to the public before.

Turkish trans woman Eylül Cansın commits suicide
Another tragic loss to the transgender community. On 5 January 2015, she jumped off the Bosphorus Bridge shortly following a suicide note/video she posted on Facebook.
“I could not. I could not because people did not allow me. I could not work. I wanted to do something [worthwhile] but I could not. They interfered with me a lot. They victimized me a lot. I leave everyone to their own Allah.” - Eylül Cansın
Rest in power, Eylül.

Please, everyone, cry for Eylül as much as we did for Leelah. Do not ignore this. We are losing too many of our sisters to suicide because of transmisogyny.
Spread this like we did for Leelah. Make it clear to the world that the discrimination against transwomen and their suffering is not an anomaly—it is the result of a system that is killing women in our communities. Let’s protect all our sisters.
Here’s to the black youth who get murdered for being black Here’s to the Palestinian youth in the west bank who have to deal with being lynched out in broad daylight. Here’s to the Latino youth who go missing and no one does shit
You aren’t forgotten.

Looking like a Goddess
there is no such thing as an age that is too late to start transition, there is no such thing as too old to be beautiful, it is never, ever, too late to have a better relationship to your body and your self
the fact that Agent Carter is going so hard on discussing fifties misogyny but not fifties racism is baffling to me, especially considering that they purposefully removed or ignored Gabe Jones. Introducing him as a partner and then as a romantic interest would be a really good way to examine both racism and misogyny, or they could introduce a black woman as one of the girls Peggy lives with and examine racism through that lens. Even if they didn’t want to examine racism at least those characters would exist.
It’s just really weird to me that Agent Carter has made misogyny something that is omnipresent in that series but racism is swept under the rug entirely. I mean. A comic from the seventies had Peggy Carter in a relationship with a black man and a television show produced in 2014 is completely ignoring the very existence of racism, erasing black characters left and right, and refusing to pay any attention to the black power movement that was rising during that time.
I’m not gonna say the show’s not worth watching but damn bro. Peggy Carter and Gabe Jones were presented as equals in a romantic relationship in a comic published in the 70’s and a show produced in 2014 doesn’t appear to remember he exists. That’s really sad.
i’m trying to make this movie less awful
i have been in the avatar fandom for about 8 years I’m pretty sure this is the first time i have ever seen a gif from this movie
