Brief thought on the season two finale
OK, I will give more substantial thoughts on the season finale later, but I have one The Way Home thought I need to share:
Am I the only one who finds Elliot being like 'btw, found this coin guy who said that the coins Kat got were very valuable and you should sell them to save the land' to DEL before even SPEAKING TO KAT ABOUT IT FIRST absolutely unhinged? It was absolutely glossed over like many things in the finale
I'm not even saying this as a Thomas fan. From Elliot's perspective this is what he knows/this is what he does:
- Kat cares about Thomas and there are some romantic undertones (as established in previous episodes)
- Kat cares enough about Thomas to go back just to say goodbye
- Kat has known a lot of loss and grief and comes back from that goodbye really saddened, having been gifted these coins as a gift by an ostensibly dying man
- Takes a photo of these coins for seeming
plotNO REASON - Checks with some dude about whether they are worth anything
- Does not have a conversation with Kat about it
- Brings it up to Del at the dinner table in front of everyone, effectively removing any chance of Kat having any feelings about it and making it extremely difficult for her to express any hesitancy about this idea if she has any
I found it absolutely bananas. That then later coupled with the 'I want you to choose me', which would indicate that he might know exactly the depth of Kat's feelings for Thomas after all, made what was intended to be a romantic Elliot and Kat moment seem very sinister. Elliot is either not clocking the significance of the coins because he is not paying attention or he is choosing to ignore it because he is so focused on wanting to win Kat back that those feelings ranks higher than doing what would, in my opinion, be the bare minimum.
Like the episode was rushed beyond belief anyway, but honestly, what was that scene? I'm in disbelief
Always will be.
