So I was re-watching “The Darkest Knight” because I am working on a long theory, and I something stood out to me that I wanted to post right away.

Remember this picture that Bethany drew in Radley? 

It looks an awful lot like the front of the School of the Blind….

Bethany also drew this pic with the eyes scratched out:

In this picture, a blonde is looking into a mirror, but her face isn’t clear.

This face is warped as well, and it looks like the eyes are dead.

The School of the Blind must be very important. The fact that the mid-season finale took place there, has to be a big clue.

I will be building on this post in the theory I am working on, but just couldn’t wait to point this out!

Background for Mary Drake, CeCe, and Charles

Timeline leading up to “that night”

Jessica Dilaurentis and Mary Drake are the twins from the Halloween story. Mary was locked up at Radley because she stabbed Jessica over the doll they were fighting over.

Mary Drake had been in Radley since that incident, and even though her mental illness is what caused her to be locked up, she still blamed Jessica.

As an adult, Mary had a son named Charles. She couldn’t keep him in Radley with her, so Jessica and Kenneth adopted him. Although Mary knew she couldn’t keep Charles, she felt as though Jessica stole her child away from her.

Shortly after, Mary had a child named Bethany. She didn’t want Bethany to go with Jessica as well, since she felt like it was a mistake to send Charles with the Dilaurentis family. Since Bethany’s father was willing to raise her by himself, Mary let him take her.

After that, Mary felt extremely alone. She felt it wasn’t fair to her, that she lost both of her children. Of course, in her mind, it was all Jessica’s fault. She started planning her revenge against the woman who caused her to be locked up her entire life, and caused her children to be taken away from her, and even stole her oldest son.

Unfortunately, Charles hurt Alison, which was not an isolated incident (according to Kenneth). Charles may have been jealous of Alison, the new baby, which is common with older siblings… However, with his mother’s history, it may have caused his jealousy to be taken to a dangerous level. The Dilaurentis’ worried that Charles had inherited Mary’s mental health problems, and they sent him to Radley after he put Alison in the bathtub with hot water.

At the same time, Bethany also had issues with her father, and she ended up in Radley as well. Both Charles and Bethany were placed in the children’s ward, and ended up being raised there for the majority of their childhood. Luckily for Mary, she was able to see her children all the time once they were admitted. However, since Jessica helped raised Charles for so many years, she continued to come see him, and ended up getting to know her niece, Bethany, as well.

Over the years, she began to spend more and more time with Bethany. They had a special connection, and Jessica ended up being able to take her on outings. She bought her outfits each time she bought Alison outfits, and even bought her a horse, Custard. Bethany was so excited over her new horse, she drew a picture of Custard to show her mom. It made Mary extremely jealous, since she felt like she should be able to do those things for her daughter, but because of Jessica, she couldn’t.

Mary came up with an idea to become closer to her daughter… She pretended to be Jessica, and took Bethany out to see Custard. While they were out at the stables, Mary kept trying to get Bethany to remember to call her Aunt Jessie, and Bethany ended up getting upset. Her mom was making her feel stupid by correcting her so much, and that’s when she threw the bucket at her, and they left.

Mary realized that Bethany couldn’t control her temper/outbursts out in public, so she had to come up with a different plan… If she couldn’t participate in the special bond her sister and daughter had, she would destroy that bond. So she told Bethany that Jessica was having an affair with her father. She told Bethany that the only reason Jessica was so close with her, was to get close to Mr. Young.

Bethany was heartbroken, and furious. Mary used this to her advantage. Charles, her son, was already upset that his aunt Jessie seemed to have a much closer relationship with Bethany than she did with him. He was also upset over Kenneth and Jessica dropping him off at Radley all those years ago, and since he was little, he was upset with Alison, for taking his parents away from him. So Mary finally had both of her children convinced that Jessica was a horrible person, and the entire Dilaurentis family was evil. Jessica was the devil incarnate, and she deserved to pay for what she did to their family.

Bethany started drawing the evil looking drawings of Jessica in her book. She got more and more obsessed with this idea of revenge, and like she said in her therapy sessions, “she’s not the only one who can make plans,“ which the notes stated “she” is referring to Jessica Dilaurentis. The plans she referred to, was Jessica getting close with her, to get to her dad, like Mary had told her.

The family would meet on the roof, to talk about their plans, so Jessica and the other staff/visiting board members couldn’t hear them plotting. One day, while Bethany and Charles were on the roof, they began talking about their plans. and realized Marion Cavanaugh had overheard everything, because she was on the roof as well. Marion confronted the siblings about what she had heard, and in a panic, Bethany pushed her off the roof… She knew that Marion would tell on them, and not only would their plans would be ruined, but they would be punished severely. They were both upset with what happened, but they decided that it was their only choice… The staff at Radley knew that they were both on the roof, and although Bethany did it, Charles took the blame to protect his sister. She was also a huge part of their plan, so if they ruined their plan by blaming Bethany, Marion would have died for nothing. So, as a result, Charles was given a new diagnoses, and treated. Severely drugged, “almost drowning in his own drool” as we were told.

Unfortunately, one day, when Charles was 16, he actually did overdose from those medications, and he died. Mary was absolutely destroyed by this, and of course, saw it as Jessica’s fault, once again. Determined now, more than ever, to make Jessica pay for what she had done to her family, she puts the plan in motion, and begins to prepare Bethany for her part in all of this… that part being “CeCe Drake.”

Mary’s child was taken from her again, only this time, permanently. So as revenge, she would take one of Jessica’s children away… the one that Charles always blamed for being put in Radley, the one that they viewed as being “the favorite.” Of course, Jessica was still visiting both Mary and Bethany, and had no idea that Bethany felt anything but love for her. She had been digging for information from Jessica for quite sometime, and now, she was ready to carry out the plan to tear down her family, and ruin Jessica’s life, the way that she had ruined theres. So how do they go about getting rid of Alison? To pull of a plan like that, they need to be outside of Radley.

Charles told Bethany in episode 6x10, it’s easy to leave Radley, it’s staying gone that’s hard. So how do you “stay gone” from Radley? Well, after Charles’ death, they realized, at least he is out of this awful place… and then it hit them… If they thought Bethany was dead, they obviously wouldn’t go looking for her, so she would be free without having to hide. Mary could pretend to be Jessica, but not for more than a day or so, so it had to be mostly Bethany to carry out the plan. So once they are out, where do they go? They need outside connections…

Now, there are some things in CeCe’s story in 6x10 that didn’t make sense to me, like how she met Jason and Alison. I think that Jessica got Bethany enrolled in school as a teenager, and changed her name for the enrollment, so that no one would find out she was from Radley, just in case they would bully her if they knew. So she took her mother’s/aunt’s maiden name, Drake, and came up with a name that honored her brother; Charlotte, or CeCe for short. Then she enrolled at Rosewood High for her senior year. She even took drama and signed up for the debate club, went to school dances, and parties at the Kahn’s cabin, to have the typical high school experience, as a part of her therapy. Bethany would live at Radley, but go to school as CeCe during the day. How else would she be voted homecoming or prom queen, if people didn’t know her, and she only showed up to take a picture for the yearbook, and hung out with Jason every once in a while? I think she met Jason, Melissa, Ian, etc, maybe even Wilden, while attending Rosewood High.

After have a great senior year at school, she got accepted to UPenn. CeCe did so well, and was improving so much since her transition into the world outside of Radley, that she was about to be released, permanently. Jessica (as a board member) pushed for Radley to release her in time to go to UPenn in the fall, as long as she had a place lined up to live, was supervised by Jessica, and continued therapy, they signed off on her release from Radley. CeCe did very well in college, and was getting acclimated to the world outside Radley… Until the night she invited Alison and the liars to a party… Of course, that was the party that the girl got pushed down the stairs… It was the girl that went upstairs with Ian, and CeCe was friends with Melissa… So I think she got into a fight with that girl, CeCe pushed her, and she fell down the stairs on accident. Or, Alison was jealous of the girl with Ian, and SHE was the one who pushed her… CeCe claims that the girl fell, that she wasn’t involved at all. CeCe blamed Alison and “those four other she-devils” for the accident, as her former roommate told Aria.

After she got kicked out of UPenn, Radley was informed of the accident. Given her history, her diagnosis, and the fact that she was on the roof when Charles pushed Marion (or rather, when SHE pushed Marion), she was sent back to Radley. Before that happened, she had begun to like Alison, despite her mean attitude towards people, she made CeCe feel special, and no one had ever made her feel like that before. Of course, after the party, she felt even more hatred towards Alison than she did before she left Radley… and now she had four more enemies to go after… the liars.

Since she was back in Radley, back as being known as Bethany, no friends from school, no school at all, and no Alison making her feel special, she and Mary decided to continue planning their revenge on the Dilaurentis’. However, now there was someone on the outside who could help her… He became good friends with her during her time at UPenn, and after he opened up to her about his family history, she opened up about hers. He told her about his father being in a mental institution while he was growing up, so he and his brother were basically raised there. Both he and his brother decided to become doctors because of their father, and his brother was already done with school. He also told CeCe how they moved to America after their father recently passed away. After telling her all of that, CeCe opened up about her history, about her mom and brother, and her own stay at Radley. She told him how she got out, and how well she was doing, and he loved how happy she seemed to be out in the world.

After she hadn’t been to class in a while, he found out she was kicked out of UPenn and sent back to Radley. He came to see her, and she told him how Alison Dilaurentis and her friends ruined her life, and how her entire family had been affected by the Dilaurentis’. She even told him they were responsible for the death of her brother… Having a brother himself, and a parent in a mental institution, it made him hate the Dilaurentis’ as much as she did, and he wanted to help. So he started working at Radley on a volunteer basis, to get closer to Mary and CeCe, and plan their revenge on Jessica, Alison, and the rest of her family. 

His name of course, is Wren Kingston, and his brother is Dr. Elliot Rollins. The longer Wren worked at Radley, and the more Elliot visited the Drake women, the more he started to like CeCe, and ended up falling in love with her. Wren ended up in a relationship as well, with Melissa, who was friends with CeCe. She was someone close to the Dilaurentis family, so he could get information on them.

From that point on, Mary and CeCe Drake, Wren, and Elliot began working on their plan to ruin the Dilaurentis’… which will take place on Labor Day weekend. However, they have no idea that Mona has started plans of her own for “that night.”

How are people saying Aria and Ezra’s reunion was “rushed” and had no build up? They are the ONLY ones that had build up this season. From the moment they saw each other again, Aria was there for him the entire time helping him through his grieving. They have always been that type of relationship where the love is just unconditional. He’s there for her, she’s there for him. Neither one have to actually say I love you for us to know that they love each other. It’s just there.

And in the finale, Aria and Ezra ALWAYS act impulsively on their feelings. Look at when they first met! They were making out in the bathroom within probably 15-20 minutes of meeting. Aria impulsively kissed him in 412 after being broken up, too.

As Marlene even said, it’s something they’ve been wanting to do for a long time coming. Nothing to it was rushed. I understand he was crying about Nicole the day before, but that was him letting go and closing the chapter (book). And when Aria kissed him it brought up all of those old feelings that have been lingering this entire time and that has never had closure since they broke up 5 years ago.

This is very true. Anyone saying otherwise is likely bitter that their ship didn’t get such an epic scene. Spoby and Haleb fans should realize, though, that Ezria weren’t together half of 5B and all of 6A, and they haven’t had a real kissing scene since 505. Before that episode, Aria was pissed at him for his crime novel so 4B SUCKED for us. Should I keep going? Aria was dating Jake in 4A. That brings us back to early 2013. And while it’s not necessary to treat all the ships fairly, if we’re looking for FAIRNESS, Ezria fans deserved that scene for how patient we’ve been. We’ve had shit since season 3.

I’m an older fan AND a writer, and I am actually very content with the buildup this season. It was beautifully executed and made perfect sense, unlike season 5, which was a mess. By 620, Aria and Ezra had so much sexual tension, I was about to jump through the screen and force them together if they did not do it themselves.

On another note, I think that Ezra and Nicole were having relationship problems before she went missing. And while he was heartbroken that she was gone, and it sent him into a depression, I think he was able to recover more quickly because he realized they weren’t meant to be, anyway. I think even he realizes that he’s meant to be with Aria.
