Tasha tells the best jokes <3
I've never had a blog make me "awwwwwww" so much before. They'll usually get like one or two out of me, but with you it's every couple of posts.
Yay! good to know our “aww” factor is on point. This is something we strive for, because that gets us more treats and attention. And who doesn’t love treats and attentions?! #nobody
Would you ever consider breeding them?
Boris is neutered. We have breeding rights for Tasha but still need to have her hips and eyes checked. If she fails, she will be spayed. If she passes, we will find a stud.. and if her breeder approves this stud, we will have one litter. We still have a lot to learn though before we are comfortable with this. And we only have until Tasha is 6 years old. Then she will be spayed. So we have 3 years to even consider puppies. And she is partially wooly.. So her offspring will most likely not be in the show ring. I have a running list of friends who want one of her puppies if it happens, friends I would trust with huskies. We wont be making money and dont plan to become a breeder. We’re leaving that to the pros

Hoping all of the snow dogs that got snow today enjoyed it to the fullest <3
We didn’t think we were getting any more snow this season.. and boy, was it a sight for sore eyes. Even when the wind was blowing the snow from the trees into our eyes and literally making them sore. It was still amazing.
Happy 3rd birthday to Tasha bear, first of her name. Queen of the North. Boss of all dogs. Demander of rubs. Killer of shrews.. and moles.. and every critter that steps foot on her land. We couldn't imagine life without you, pretty girl 💘 Love you to the moon 🌙😘 #happybirthday

Why are huskies and German shepherds so popular in the USA?
Movies have a big influence on people. When a certain breed is depicted as a hero, or a great family dog, it definitely sways people’s opinions. Availability is also a big factor. It isn’t hard to get either breed around here.
German Shepherds are known for being very versatile. Obedient, athletic, protective, family oriented - everything you’d want in a dog. (minus all that hair omg)
I think Huskies are popular because of their looks. They’ve never been one of the top ten most popular breeds, even after movies come out, since they’re always shown as sled dogs. I think Game of Thrones influenced a large influx of Huskies, and social media is a sucker for them blue eyes, but unfortunately Huskies aren’t easy to handle and wind up surrendered more often.
This post is everything to me. I grew up with a Gsd/ husky mix. She was loyal and protective, but she also took every chance she could get to escape out our front door and run around the neighborhood like a maniac. Only to return, panting and happy, asking for cookies for coming back home.
Huskies have definitely become more trendy over the last few years. I saw it happening in NYC (NYC of all places!) But I agree they are often surrendered just for being a typical husky!
Huskies are tough to raise. They are strong willed and stubborn. You have to be a leader, but one they can respect. They are independent. It's not your typical lab that aims to please. And because of that you have to make tough decisions. Like ecollar training. Training that could save their life if they happen to escape (which they will.. they will find a way). You can't shave them. You just have to deal with the shedding twice a year. And it's a glorious shedding that lasts about 3 weeks.
You can't get huskies for their looks. You get them because you are a badass human being that needs a badass dog that also loves every human they come across like they were their brethren. (Microchips are key.) And you post your badass husky pics because you have what it takes to own one of these magnificent creatures. And if you don't have that, get a lab. Or a golden. Or a poodle if you feel like shaving your dog.
