#AU in which Arthur gets more than one episode to adjust to Merlin having magic and ofc he takes it badly but as the series moves on he sees just what Merlin has done for him and starts to rethink his whole attitude to magic and they slowly build the trust up between them again until Arthur even asks Merlin to show him some of his spells and pretends to be totally unimpressed ‘You’re telling me the greatest sorcerer to walk the earth can only make a little fire dragon?’ ‘OH A BUTTERFLY THAT’S MUCH BETTER MERLIN, REALLY, HOW COULD I EVER DOUBT YOUR POWER’ fast forward a few episodes and we’ve got Merlin and Arthur kicking ass on the battlefield and JESUS FUCK WHY WASN’T THIS WHAT HAPPENED?!!!
