i know everyone is super excited (me too lol) for then openings finally happen again, just wanted to send some love and say i can’t wait to see what y’all will have in store when that time comes :D <3

Hi, thanks so much for the ask, it's wonderful and super encouraging to hear that so many people are looking forward to our opening. I promise we're just as excited as you are! We held the final event of our Moving Mountains opening in mid-April (yay! + thank you to everyone who made that arc so fulfilling) and are working hard on propelling our Next to Nowhere forward now. It’s been said a few times on this blog before, but as a reminder, our next opening will be for the Trove of Twisted Tunnels. They have a different way of life than the Clans who share their borders, so check out our various resources linked in our pinned post if you're looking to get an idea of the atmosphere. As always, keep an eye on the blog, and thank you again for the love!

i know its not gonna be for awhile BUT i like to be prepared!! what do applications look like? do we apply with an oc/adoptable or is it just ✨vibes✨ (i.e background check, i know some rps only ask for socials and a writing sample instead of characters!)

Hi anon! It's always good to get prepared, and while there will be a lot that is subject to the individual opening — for example, character specifics that might depend on the lore established for our next opening — we can definitely provide you an outline and a look into the application process based on previous rounds! There are some things that stay generally consistent, as well as some things we can give insight to as far as the future.

First off, ThreeClans handles applications through creating an original character and applying with their information — along with some of your own, of course! We tend to use both character information and player information in tandem to provide us with the most comprehensive view of who we're letting into our server. Sometimes, depending on the application round, we have adoptable characters available for tryouts too, but this is highly dependent on the individual round of applications. In recent rounds, we've featured adoptables in Moving Mountains, which was an exclusively adoptable based opening, and in Next to Nowhere, which featured some adoptable characters as well as the ability to apply for original characters.

Below are some screenshot snippets of previous application forms, both from adoptable forms (the first provided screenshot) and original character forms (the second provided screenshot). These are a little preview of the general kind of questions that will be asked when we're digging into character information we'd like to see provided!

One big thing we look for in applications is submissions that fulfil the guidelines we've set forth. A lot of times we'll receive submissions that in some way miss our guidelines (submissions for cats who already have clan names — all cats who join ThreeClans are introduced as loners / rogues / kittypets who join the clans or the Trove in roleplay, as opposed to the idea of them having been warriors who were supposedly "always there" and retconned into the timeline, submissions that vastly fall below our ideal length of a paragraph minimum, etc.) and are therefore automatically disqualified.

We also do ask for roleplayer information on our forms. Below is a preview of some of the questions we ask in that regard!

We request a roleplay sample as well to get an idea of your writing style, though you're free to provide whatever you'd like for this — fresh writing, something done just for the application specifically, etc.

With regards to opening specifics, a lot of character customization and making them "fit" with an opening comes down to information that is provided during the promotion of an opening. After all, you can make a character work with just about any kind of lore or group if you really want to, but we will provide more information on just where your character will be coming from so that you know what sort of surrounding companions they might be associated with prior to joining the group, what sort of culture might have informed their upbringing should they be established as a solid part of their loner group, and things such as this! For example, in our last Trove opening, the loner group that became a part of their ranks was known as The Hunters and had customs that allowed them to "hunt" and communicate with ghosts or spirits. This came with specific rituals and lore documents, so any cat well established in the Hunters would be able to incorporate these elements into their backstory via application for a more established feeling if so desired!

The Trove itself is a unique group within ThreeClans that has customs that vary from a clan. Its ranking system follows the four seasons, with the season a cat is born during establishing the role they will play within the Trove. It also comes with its own unique naming system in which two part names are utilized and specific suffixes are kept limited to specific seasons — more information on the Trove can be found linked in our Carrd by following links regarding the Trove itself, but when the time comes, we'll be sure to dive into deeper details on the blog here too so everyone knows just what guidelines to follow regarding their rules and regulations.

This ended up a bit long, so apologies if I went overboard! If you have any more specific questions, I would be happy to answer them. <3

Is there currently an opening to join the RP?

Hi, thanks for the ask! Over the past few months, this blog has gotten a few asks on this topic, and we appreciate all of the enthusiasm. In general, ThreeClans openings are well announced well before we release the application form. There will be lots of notice, promotional art, and information about the opening on this blog - if you turn on notifications for this blog or simply check relatively frequently, it will be impossible to miss it!

Recently, the ThreeClans Mods have made the decision to slow the frequency in which we open the group for new applicants. This decision was met after extensive conversation within the Mod team, and for a myriad of reasons. To offset this, there's a possibility that we will be accepting a larger members into the group during each opening. However, this decision does mean that there will longer spans of time between each opening, so make sure to apply when we open if you're interested in joining!

Currently, we're weeks or maybe even days away from wrapping up our 2022 JaggedClan opening event, Moving Mountains. Afterwards, the Mods' focus will shift to completing our 2023 FogClan opening event, Next to Nowhere, which is already a significant way into its arc. When that is settled, the Mods will look towards opening the Trove of Twisted Tunnels.

Again, when we are ready to open, we will advertise extensively here! Keep an eye out, but we encourage you to be patient, as well. Thank you again for the ask, and we're happy to answer any other questions!

How does time run in the rp? do threads span across multiple days or is it just a general “finish all threads by the end of the month for the next moon?” I tried to find something about this in the faq and the about but there’s totally a chance i missed it ^^;

In ThreeClans, our threads run based on real life time progression. This means that every naturally occurring day in real life is the equivalent of one roleplay day. When that real life day passes, so does one day in roleplay, and a thread must then be wrapped up. Some further details are elaborated on below in the "Time Progression & Aging" section of our Carrd, which can be found linked here!

As a result of our time progression, some may find ThreeClans to be a more quickly paced roleplay. This is simply our standard and preference, and there are many roleplays out there that fit the standard of one real life week equating to one day in roleplay (or so on) if that's more your speed! For us, this pace allows events to pan out the most realistically while not dragging anything along, and we find that threads are most often completed without being endlessly waited upon this way. In the event of more high stakes roleplays or events that involve many parties, we will typically employ "liquid time" where we may make three real life days the equivalent of one roleplay day, but these are special circumstances and will always be notified of in an OOC chat beforehand!

i noticed a lot of people who are in this rp have a lot of characters! it made me wonder how obtaining a new character goes! is it based on activity? randomly given if needed? character pitches and applications? i plan on trying my hand next opening, so i figured even if i get in or not it, doesn't hurt to ask <3 hope you mods are having a lovely day!

Hello, thanks for the question! We're excited to hear that you're interested in our next opening.

Yes, ThreeClans members certainly have a larger quantity of characters than many other discord Warriors roleplays. ThreeClans was brought to life in 2016 as a skype roleplay, and the many roleplays that followed closely after our creation tended to have more characters than what might be considered standard nowadays. Over the past 8 years (we celebrated our 8th anniversary on February 2nd), the Warriors roleplay community has changed in many ways. While fewer characters per person might be the trend now, it wasn't always the case. In addition, having 5 groups (NettleClan, CreekClan, JaggedClan, FogClan, and the Trove of Twisted Tunnels), we need more characters to fill out the ranks! We do have character limits, however. Members with adequate activity are able to join 3 groups. Some of our members prefer to stay in just 1 or 2 groups, and that's perfectly fine! Each member's character limit is determined by how many groups they are in. For each group they're in, a person can have up to 4 characters, though our more standard maximum is 3; 4 is permitted only for members who show outstanding activity.

1 Group: 3-4 Characters Maximum 2 Groups: 6-8 Characters Maximum 3 Groups: 9-12 Characters Maximum

Recently, we have adjusted the character system to allow members to more freely choose the distribution of their characters. Previous to this change, these limits were per group, meaning a person in 3 groups could have 3-4 characters in each group, but not exceed that limit. Now, there is a bit more flexibility. If a member is in 3 groups, they are able to have 9-12 characters, but they do not have to be split evenly from group to group. It's difficult to explain succinctly, and there is a more expansive announcement regarding this system in the server, but hopefully this gives you at least a bit of insight!

ThreeClans does not have an official system when it comes to members obtaining new characters. We do have an activity check, but that is in place only to ensure our members remain present and roleplaying. We don't have character slots or an "earning" system in which more activity unlocks the possibility of more characters, and instead give out new characters on a case-by-case basis. We look at activity first and foremost, but there are a large variety of factors that go into choosing roleplayers for new characters.

Every few months, we put out an announcement in the server inviting our members to react to the announcement with a variety of emojis to indicate their interest in obtaining characters. When choosing new characters, whether it be for a kit litter or a loner/rogue/kittypet opportunity, we always look through the people who have indicated interest through this announcement first. The screenshot below gives you an idea of what one of these "survey" announcements might look like!

Being offered a character in this manner isn’t the only way to create a ThreeClans OC! We have in-server adoptable applications in which NPCs (typically characters created by people who have left the roleplay and have given us permission to reuse pieces of their OC) are put up for for adoption and members are invited to apply for them. Some of these characters are what we call "blank slate" characters, where the entirety of the OC can be created by the applying member, but some have more rigid guidelines. Different members prefer different types of adoptable characters, and our adoption document always has something for everyone! In addition, we encourage members to approach us with their own ideas or character pitches, and many of our former loner characters were created this way.

Apologies for the long-winded reply! I hope this helps you and anyone else interested in joining ThreeClans understand how our group works a bit better. We hope to see your application for our next opening!
