What is smoothfacenormals ?
I think 2 weeks ago, @potatobuttcheek asked me about this (Sorry, I took so long) but here we go
In simple words : It's basically a slider that aim to reduce the harsh shadows sims 3 normally puts on your sims faces and make details way more apparent, and yes the sims look just as smooth in game too ! I usually put mine at 150. There is a more technical explanation by simtanico here

a little help
So guys, I really didn't want to talk about this, but recently I was talking about how my state has suffered a lot due to the rains and how I had to send my PC for maintenance and also the internet connection in my house broke down and it's going need to be changed. To begin with, I live in Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil, our state has suffered a catastrophe where the ENTIRE state suffered from floods, people without homes, people and animals who lost their lives, it's horrible. There has been no water in my city for 1 week (I'm supposed to go back this week, but the place where our water treatment is located is flooding again), this part of my city that is flooding is where my father's and my sister's workplace are, and also where I work, my work is remote, I don't know when I'll be able to go back to work, I didn't want to ask, but the bills won't stop and I don't know if I'll have money to help my parents, who are also in limit, if you have the opportunity to help me with even 1 cent I would really appreciate it, luckily I had some money saved from my birthday which is exactly what will be used to maintain my computer, when it arrives I will continue posting content for you, I have a lot of projects to post, I post because I like it and it's something that has brought me a lot of comfort in this difficult time, having your support is also incredible, I have a big project for the 1000 followers that I'm almost reaching. because why does all these hairstyles look like they all gotta be sentenced for multiple crimes and felonies. They've comitted an assault to my eyesight. I can't.
For the people who may be wondering : Yes, I'm working on the presets, the more I work on them, the more I notice things to make the sims proportions even better, but yeah I'm still working on it

I'm glad you asked but yes I was already planning on making non-default presets after making the default face presets ! I'm more so focusing on the defaults for now.
The non-default presets are going divided in different sets : many different ethnic noses, many different lip shapes, etc. + I want to make atleast maybe 10-20 presets per sets. I will try my best to deliver the best with these presets, I will more than likely always do polls for feedback when needed !
The main difference between the non-defaults and the defaults are going to be the sliders. The defaults will always remain basegame meanwhile the non-defaults will require custom sliders.

Don't worry I don't find this rude at all ! My idea behind it was that I wanted random sims to get the color black more than any color since ginger and red are pretty rare IRL. I wanted to make the randomization of the colors more realistic basically by adding 2 blacks hair colors the odds of getting it would've been higher than only have 1 black hair color. I also wanted ginger and red to be rare on townies which is why I seperated them.
I did the same thing with my eye colors replacement, I put more brown than anything else because brown is the most common eye color. The game recognizes my eye color replacements and now townies get a lot of brown eye colors and a few of green, gray and blue here and there !
But sadly, the game doesn't recognize my default hair replacements and the townies still show up with the old EA's hair color selection 😞
All of this was tested with the random sim fixes by LazyDuchess, she allows the use of default hair color presets + custom hair color presets at the same time if you modify the _XML (basically ginger and red counts as custom hair colors since I didn't make them defaults, I could only replace the 8 colors available, the rest has to be custom) but yeah, the main idea behind it was just realism and better color selection for townies ! I hope this makes it clearer :)
I never truly liked the eye colors Maxis gave us, they always seemd a bit unatural to me and just awful. I never used them and would always customize my eye colors, but having to do that all the time can be tiring, so I woke up one day and was like " what if I just found a way to replace the eye colors ? " well, that's what I did !

- Does this affect sims eye colors that have already been set ? - No, this won't change your current sims eye colors
- Will this affect newly generated sims ? - Yes, since there is a lot of brown the odds of a sim getting brown will be higher.

I never truly liked the hair colors Maxis gave us, I decided to make default hair color presets replacements. Yes, there is a lack of ginger and red hair I'm aware 😅 to fill that gap, I created 2 custom hair color presets.
Answering questions :
- Does this affect sims with hair colors that have already been set ? - No, this won't change your current sims hair colors
- Since you removed the grey hair color preset, do elder sim no longer get grey hair upon aging up ? - No, elder sims still get grey hair :)
- Does this affect newly generated sims ? - No, after some testing sims still get EA's vanilla color selection over my hair colors.
- Why is there 2 black presets ? Answer here !

As I started creating the nose presets. I was like why not try to see how all my presets look on the basegame skin ? It doesn't look too bad.
but on another note, this made me realize that the sims itself were never odd looking, it was just the presets because why do they look so much better ? and all of what I'm doing is just with basegame sliders which proves that there was never anything wrong. Maxis just did us dirty asf with the presets they provided. 😭 down the eye colors and the hair colors too ! the ones you are seeing above are custom colors.

I just never really liked the way random sims or bin sims looked like... and the more I go further in this project, the more I get it.
The progress on everything that I've managed to get done today
Eyes - Done ✅
Noses - Not done, 0% progress even...
Mouths - Done ✅
Heads - half way done, missing some modifications with their overall look, they looked too similar, smoothfacenormals flavor
So in a few days, get ready for your sims to have new faces !!!

As I'm working on the version 2 of the headshapes, I need feedback and I figured a poll would do best.
I personally prefer the longer faces because they just look so much more organic to me.
Update with the current votes : what's going to happen is that, I won't make small faces defaults, just the longer faces
But, For people who also want both, I'll make a set of non-default smaller face presets :) So they could have V.2 + Set of smaller faces.

So I've been working on the presets and trying to find the perfect proportions for each category. I've currently finished re-doing all the eyes but I want to finish everything before I even upload anything.

Other than that....
The noses and mouths need a complete overhaul
- For the mouths : Removing their permanent smiles and changing them a little + bonus mouth presets for bigger lips
- The noses : Making them look less wonky and creating more realistic variations + Changing their height to match the V.2 heads
The heads will recieve more work than I thought it would need
- For flavor 1 + 2 : Since I love using the facesmoothNormals slider, I'll more than likely make a flavor where that is present (or atleast see if that's possible)
- For flavor 3 + 4 : For people who want less of a cheeky look to their sims, I might make a flavor where there's that reduced instead. + smoothfaceNormals with that as well (if it is possible)
If adding manually the smoothfaceNormals is not possible then It'll remain to 2 flavors.
To show exactly why I'm working so hard on these presets, here are some random generated sims with all the current presets in question + coupled with random sim fixes by LadyDuchess and Townies outfits by FloTheory.
I feel like they look better than what I'm used to seeing :)
