When Misty discovers that her 'Mother' ,Opaline Arcana, plans to travel back in time to kidnap a baby, she decides that enough is enough.

The pair are shot through time and land in the Everfree Forest where Misty goes through an unexpected transformation. With more power than she knows how to handle, Misty must look to the new ponies she finds herself around to unlearn all of the bad lessons that Opaline had taught her and try to stop a calamity that puts the entirety of Equestria in grave danger!

WELL

I imagine that, similar to how twilight is a prodigy of magic in the modern age, Celestia was the same back in her prime. the key difference between the two is that twilight wanted to learn everything, while Celestia and Luna were forced to prioritise and develop combat magic over everything else due to how violent the world was back then
