Pairing: Dean Winchester x Reader
Summary: Dean is your rock, but you’ve become his place of rest.
AN: Surprise! Just something short and sweet for Dean. 💜

On nights like these, the urge hits you the most.
You’re already in bed, wearing one of his old shirts and little else. You’re waiting for Dean, watching him finish brushing his teeth. He wraps it up by splashing some water on his face.
He stops for a moment, with his hands on the edges of the sink. He looks at his reflection and rubs a hand over the thick stubble on his face.
It’s halfway to beard territory. He needs a trim, he’s probably thinking.
(You don’t mind a little extra scruff.)
Such a soft, fluffy story. Dean deserves all the love and care in the world. He deserves to be loved like this.
He hesitates, looking deeper at his own reflection.
She knew instantly where his mind was when he was looking at his reflection for a longer time. She knew how much he was blaming himself, hating himself for all the lives he couldn't save. I really liked how she snapped him out of it.
But you also know how many more layers this man carries, including the ones he adds himself.
And she's not going to let him. He carries the world on his back, she's not going to stand by and watch him add more weight onto it. She'd help him carry it, even if for a little time, give him some moments of peace, let him revel in love and warmth.
He doesn’t think he’s been held like this since he was a kid.
Idk why this line just made my throat constrict. He is so touch starved. He needs affection, love and someone to hold him too. It's also very symbolic of how since he was a kid, he has been the one to provide comfort, take care of Sam, protect everyone. He never had this since he was 4 years old. And her holding him from the back, providing him the comfort and warmth, the security and a sense of protection, its just so beautiful.
And he actually rests.
Deservedly so. He actually rests because she's there to protect him, from the world, from himself, from his dark thoughts that take over him so often, leaving him with self hatred and guilt. But she's not gonna let them harm him. She's giving him the pleasure of just being held, conveying to him that he doesn't have to carry the burden alone, that she's there.
I absolutely loved it. Dean is my most favorite, he's precious and he deserves to be treated as such.
Thank you such a heart warming fic. Always always grateful for you and your writing.

I believe he also jumped through handcuffs to get his hands in front of him in that episode, which impressed the heck out of the writers’ room when they saw the dailies.

I still think that my favorite urban legend/folklore fact is that there are certain areas in New Orleans where you cannot get a taxi late at night not because it isn’t safe, but because taxi companies have had recurring problems of picking up ghosts in those areas who are not aware that they are dead and disappearing from the cab before reaching the destination and therefore stiffing the driver on the fare causing a loss for the company.

I love that the nola problem here is not “ghosts in my taxi cab,” but “ghosts are FUCKING BROKE DEAD BASTARDS & I GOT BILLS”

In a book about the tsunami in Japan in 2011, the writer talked about how there was a huge increase in reports of ghostly activity. Apparently in Japan treating ghosts rudely is basically considered the stupidest thing you could possibly do. For months after the tsunami, taxi drivers would pick up a passenger only to have them give an address in one of the devastated areas. The cab driver often looked up halfway to the destination to find their fare had disappeared. Not wanting to be impolite to the person (even if they were dead) they’d drive to the address, open the door to let them out, then drive away.
Must be hard, huh? Having me around— Some guy with Ben’s face… Making you think about things you’d rather forget. Yeah. It’s probably why I’m such a bitch to you sometimes. Maybe.
DARK ANGEL (2000- 2002)
Okay, but can we talk about the subtlety of Jensen’s acting in that last gif.
In this scene Max and Alec are watching a news report about authorities being on the hunt for rogue transgenic, enhanced super soldiers, which both Max and Alec are.
All super soldiers are tattooed with a bar code on the back of their neck. So, that little shift/hunching of his shoulders shows Alec’s worried about it being visible. But it’s so subtle, along with the little side glance to Max
Just another perfect example of Jensen’s ability to convey SO much without a single word.

Jensen has been so talented since early on. This is like his first big project since Days Of Our Lives and he is so in-tune with his character.
He has a very good understanding of every role that he plays, which is why he always makes us feel for the characters and love them.
He's just absolutely amazing.
