I'm working on the new version of my trait chemistry mod today, and having trouble coming up with a name for a completely new turn on/turn off. Figured I'd make a poll to see if other people would have a better idea.

The mod is going to utilize @anachronisims's new traits, and this particular turn on will check inventory for Dislikes Animals, Dislikes Cats, Dislikes Children, Dislikes Dogs, Hates the Outdoors, and Grumpy.

I am planning on using the Crab icon for this, if that helps! I've also been trying to rename the turn-ons so they don't use the same name as an individual trait.

Hoping to release this sometime early next week!

Just wanted to apologize for the delay in releasing this. I’ve made a mistake somewhere and the mod is throwing errors, and tbh I’m in the middle of a depressive episode and haven’t had the energy to figure out what I did wrong.

Hopefully will be able to fix this and release before the end of the month; in the meantime I’m working on some easier/less tedious projects as my WIP folder is starting to get a little out of control. Thanks for your patience 💚

I'm a fan of traits & trait mods and I really liked Atomtanned's mod /based on Dill's Turn-Ons & Turn-Offs/. This is quite an extensive edit - I just wanted to adjust it a little for my game and once I started I couldn't stop xD

I'm still working on an update of my own version of traits chemistry, but @pforestsims has made their edit available! Another option for those of us who love 3t2 traits. Between this new one from pforest, my own edit and the original by @lilbabydilljr hopefully there's a version to fit everyone's games! 💚

@pforestsims also created a mod that turns off zodiac/aspiration chemistry, meaning that trait turn-ons will have a more noticeable effect. You can use this extra mod with either pforest's version of trait chemistry, or mine.

what are your sims unpopular opinions? for any of the games!

I don’t have any issue with people charging for early access for cc (within reason of course) but restrictive TOUs are trash and should be ignored. I know I was looking at a popular TS4 creator’s TOU recently and they don’t even allow recolors of their content.

Collaboration is the heart and soul of the Sims modding community (and a large reason that the TS2 community is still thriving two decades later). If you’re making thousands of dollars monthly off the community, continuing the open source spirit of the community by allowing others to build off your creations is the absolute least you can do.

this makes me want to ask.. if you’re a simblr, and you play other games, what other games do you play?

I am one of those Simmers who doesn't play other games lol I have nothing against other games, I just haven't found many other ones that even appeal to me. And when they do and I try them, I get bored of them very quickly. Sims 2 is more than enough game for me!

I really feel like I'm in the minority on this though, I feel like I hear Simmers talk about playing other games ALL the time.

(ETA - I did used to play other games back many moons ago, especially when I was a kid, pre-Sims 2 days. I think I'm also just set in my ways and it would take a lot for me to want to learn a new game, especially when I still enjoy this one SO much)

I unfortunately don’t have much time for gaming these days, between work and my toddler. But I love gaming and can’t wait for life to settle down a bit so I can get back to it. This simblr used to be a general video game blog! I have a decently-sized console and handheld collection, too.

I have all of my childhood games and definitely like retro gaming! I replay old Pokemon, Super Mario, and Legend of Zelda titles regularly - although I feel like one of the only people on the planet who dislikes Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom 🫤 I have played through every Pokemon title completely except for the most recent.

For more modern games, I mostly play single-player action/adventure games in fantasy settings. Assassin’s Creed, Horizon Zero Dawn/Forbidden West, God of War are all some favorite franchises for me. I also love a nice platformer/Metroidvania like Hollow Knight, and I’ll play a good FPS (Wolfenstein, Watch Dogs) if it’s single player.

Right now, I mostly play sandbox style games that are easier to jump in and out of - TS2 obviously, but also Animal Crossing and Civ 6. I’m starting to pick away at my very large backlog though, and I’m about 75% through Bioshock right now!

But the first game I remember playing on my own was Wolfenstein Spear of Destiny on my cousin’s PC. Highly doubt my mom realized I knew how to run command lines in DOS, because I was waaaay too young to play that (I was 6 lol)

Ahh, for me it’s one of the Build Mode tracks from TS1 that does this… even as a kid it made me supremely anxious.

This is an entire collection that is interwoven with each other. Hair is repositoried to different ages, genders, defaults, and even hidden toddler hair. It's highly recommended that the collection stay intact and that you have the Ultimate Collection or all EP/SP.

Not all hair works with each sims' faces and not all sims' faces work with each hair. So keep in mind foreheads, cheeks and ears may poke out. Previews are available at LordCrumps.com

The collection includes add ons that may require the defaults and are flagged as "Store Edition" hair. TS4 hairs range from base game to the most recent Stuff Pack (Home Chef Hustle). More hair may be included as add ons in the future.

I wouldn't convert some hair without their outfit counterparts. Please make sure to remove conflicts. The outfits include:

Most of these hairs exist already in the realm of the community as custom hairstyles. However, if you like one of the hairs from this collection as custom, please send an ask and I'll make that for you. Any of my hair previously converted (shrink, servo, santa hat, etc) should be removed; they'll be included in this collection.

TOU: Please feel free to use these as a template for your defaults and recolor the hair as you'd prefer for download purposes. I only ask that you do not reupload these original files (breaking down to packs, gender, etc) as they are intertwined and may not work without their exclusive counterparts. Please do not make these hairs as customs for reupload (I'll do it for you, if you send an ask).

This took about... 8 months to complete. I've (re)converted all of these myself to my current expectations of my conversion content. This was play tested thoroughly over the course of that time. If there are any issues, please don't hesitate to send an ask. The file size is massive even compressed, but to be honest it's pretty decent for 500+ hair.

So happy this came out before I made real progress on my own set of clay defaults! This is so well done, it’s incredible.

Was poking around in SimPE and realized that the hat hairs come preset with a matching non-hat hair that appears for formal/sleep/etc automatically and whew! So much extra work but what a nice touch!

My odd workaround that has fixed my crashing issues

My game used to crash like a mfer from pink flashing.

Through trial and error I found out that if I go straight into my main neighborhood and straight onto a large and/or cc-heavy lot (so like....any lot in my game lol) it will crash. But if I first upon loading up the game go into my test neighborhood, go onto a simple test lot, and THEN go into my main neighborhood and go onto whatever lot, the game does not crash.

It's odd that this works for me since @anibats has hypothesized that the game is more likely to crash each time you enter a new lot in the same game load, and her reasoning made sense to me. And yet. My game insists that I open a test lot in a test neighborhood first in order to not crash.

Just sharing in case anyone has insights on this or in case it's helpful to anyone else. It's annoying to have to load the test lot every time, but WAY less annoying than having my game crash, which was a very common occurrence before I found this workaround.

Also tagging in @anachronisims who is collecting data on sims 2 crashing.

My stats: Windows 10, AMD Ryzen 3 3100 4-core processor, 8GB RAM, around 10GB of CC in my game. My test neighborhood has only 4 lots and 2 sims in it.

Haven’t been able to test this myself as my neighborhoods are all pretty light on CC at the moment, but judging by the comments, seems promising!
