I dreamt of you again. It was a beach this time, dusky and cool, the soft wind blowing your hair- longer than I’ve ever seen it or remember it, fluttering against the column of your neck. I think about you when I look at flowers and pictures of dinosaurs and when it’s your birthday (that was last week- how was it? I hope there was cake and laughter, and this is the first one I missed in years, and I think of last year and I remember your bright laugh and flashing lights and your shoulder flush against mine-). Happy birthday. I hope you’re doing good.

To be loved is to be immortal

How many dead man’s recipes do we cook? How many faces make up our own? How many creations born from love live on when we do not? How often have I spoken his name, even in death, even when he cannot hear?

Magnetic buttons were patented in 2013 by Maura Thornton to make accessible clothing for her husband, Don, who had Parkinson’s [1]. Goldfish crackers were made in 1958 by a Swiss biscuit-maker as a birthday present for his Pisces wife [2]. In the 1920s the band-aid was thought of by cotton-buyer Dickson for his wife, Josephine, who often nicked herself during cooking [3]. In 1894 surgical gloves were invented by surgeon William Halsted to ease the hands of his scrub nurse, and later his wife [4]. Custard powder, an egg-free early version of baking powder, was created in 1837 by baker Alfred Bird so his wife, who was allergic to eggs, could enjoy baked goods [5]. There is so much love.

i hate when i send someone a meme in another language and they're like "uhm... translate? 😒" fucker i sent you a meme where 90% of the words have an english cognate and/or you don't need to know what they're saying to find it funny. can you at least TRY

i sent this meme to 7 people, and 4 of them asked me to translate for them. i legitimately do not think that was necessary.

Lyric analysis of Hoziers “Too Sweet”

"To Sweet" is a newly published song, released in March 2024 by the Irish singer and songwriter Hozier. There are many theories circulating on the internet concerning the lyrics of the piece, which describe the incompatibility of two different personalities in a relationship. Some people claim that the song is a rejection song, while others think it shows the inner conflict of the lyrical "I," who thinks he’s not good or pure enough to devote himself to a relationship with the lyrical "you."

In the following analysis, the song will be examined verse by verse to explore its true meaning.

Disclaimer: This is just my interpretation of the lyrics, and other opinions and ideas are welcome!

I think the best advice I ever got to stop myself from getting in my head over issues i was having with a partner/friend was “Are you deciding on ultimatums in your relationship without the other persons knowledge or consent? Are you having conversations in your head where the other party is a projection you supply the responses for? If so; you have done this person a huge disservice in not allowing them to answer on their own terms. You have done so much architecture around this problem in your mind that is impenetrable for anyone who was not there when it was being built.”

That shit really changed my life and honestly? I think made me a nicer person to be around.

people say folks with adhd struggle with "delayed rewards" aka long term goals and as such we tend to focus more on short term rewards. what they don't talk about is that at when we Do accomplish long term goals we don't actually feel anything proportionate to the amount of work we did to achieve it. In my head I suffered for a while and then money spontaneously appeared in my bank account.

It's litterally "Thanks for nothing" that's the feeling we get.

LIFE ADVICE FOR YOUR TEENS AND EARLY TWENTIES (and probably beyond but I haven't made it much farther than that so far):

  • GO OUT BY YOURSELF
  • LEARN HOW TO NAVIGATE PUBLIC TRANSIT WITH NO SMART PHONE
  • TAKE ONLINE CLASSES
  • MAKE PEACE WITH DISAPPOINTING YOUR PARENTS
  • GO TO THERAPY IF POSSIBLE
  • FOLLOW AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR NEW TATTOOS AND PIERCINGS
  • EAT A MEAL BEFORE DRINKING
  • DON'T MIX DRUGS
  • IT'S HARD TO BE YOURSELF WHEN YOU DON'T KNOW YOURSELF SO JUST KEEP TRYING NEW THINGS
  • THROW EVERYTHING AT THE WALL LIKE SPAGHETTI TO SEE WHAT STICKS
  • YOU WILL DISCOVER YOURSELF THE SAME WAY YOU DISCOVER NEW COFFEE SHOPS AND NEW BANDS
  • YOU WILL GET THERE
  • DON'T MAKE A LONG POST IN ALL CAPS BECAUSE YOUR VOICE WILL START TO HURT FROM SHOUTING
