Finally posting my first Rarijack one-shot for the Grand Galloping 20s, "So This Is Love." This is the first time I've posted my writing (or written any fanfiction) in years and years, so lemme know what you think.
Summary: After a mutually unsuccessful night at the Grand Galloping Gala, both Miss Rarity and April-Jacqueline find themselves at their wits' end in the Canterlot castle gardens while the gala continues without them.

This Twitter MLP human redesign drama is a mess, leave me the fuck out of it.
Genuinely, and I mean it. If anything Bix and I make gets wrapped up in toxic discourse and it goes too far, I’m not making any MLP related art anymore. I have very strict personal reasons for why I don’t engage in a lot of fandoms, especially with this one.
Fan works should be fun first, and if it’s not, I’m not gonna be a part of it.
Considering that Sunburst and Starlight's families are in the mob in the Grand Galloping 20s AU,How does that one episode where Sunburst and Starlight return to their home town to fix a friendship problem between their parents play out in the AU?
The Parent Map episode is actually what inspired me to rework Starlight and Sunburst's story. I saw a lot of potential drama with how so many of their issues in adulthood are related to the relationships they had with their parents. Obviously since the episode is meant for young children, it doesn't go deep into traumas that can be caused by parenting (which is totally fine). My idea was to push these relationships a lot further for fun and as a creative writing exercise; How would Starlight being neglected rather than coddled by her father affect how she views the incident when Sunburst left? How would Sunburst have turned out if he not only failed to do magic, but was treated like a failure by his mother? To answer your question, I don't see either of them ever returning to their hometown, because the dynamics are completely different.
Btw, reworking all the parent stuff made Starlight and Sunburst's reunion a LOT more dramatic and tragic. I went on a full rant to Bix about potential ideas of how that scene would change.
If it isn't obvious, Starlight and Sunburst are my pick for one of the most underrated (and severely underdeveloped) dynamics/stories in the show. I wanna give them a lot of attention in the AU.

Yes! I think their AU versions still have the right personalities and interests that would give the group great chemistry.
Luca enjoys anything magic-related, so he would have a lot to talk about with Stella and Trixie. I want Stella and Luca to have a sibling sort of relationship as well. (Also he would be bffs with Thea they're practically the same people.)
Since Maud and Luca are both scholars with PHDs in connected fields, it feels natural for them to at least be acquainted.
