As a Jew I wholeheartedly believe that, folks who are pretending nothing is wrong and Palestinians aren't being murdered every day would have absolutely ignored the Holocaust and let my folks get killed without blinking an eye.

Americans have a lot of heroic fantasies about what they would have done during the Holocaust or chattel slavery, and the answer for a lot of them is absolutely nothing. They would have complained about the people actually doing things for being too disruptive. We Jews did the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, and they would have called this terrorism. They would have also complained about MLK and Malcolm X, the former of which took the economies of entire cities hostage. Modern day disruptions don't hold a candle to historical disruptions.

In a two of more decades, people are going to use excuses like "I didn't know!" or pretend they were supportive all along, making tear jerking films about the Palestinian plight. We need to not let them do this.

maybe this is all that love is. the stray eyelash plucked so softly off their cheek, collars adjusted mid-sentence, the ladle passing back and forth as the sauce simmers (and how you blow it gently before they taste and still – ’it’s hot, careful’ – and then – ’more salt? more ginger? five more minutes? yes, five more minutes’) and voices humming in the next room, happily distracted, and no one there to hear it, to know about it, but you and you listen, stopped in the middle of whatever you were doing, to listen without saying anything, without walking in because it is a moment entirely theirs, not for anything but listening to, knowing that your place is to just be there, to hold that moment, because it is a gift beyond words that you’re lucky enough to be there to hear it, until the humming stops, and the world comes back and all you can do is go back to your task, aware suddenly of how delicate, how fragile all of it is.

Hi.

I am Tala Nassar, a Palestinian from Gaza.

I am 17 years old. I live in Nuseirat camp. We live a simple life. We have been living in a small house for the past 18 years. My mother and father worked hard and dreamed of building a house to shelter us until we achieved this dream a few months ago 7 October, until October 7 came and destroyed our lives.

On December 27, the Israeli army informed the residents of the new camp in Nuseirat that the area had become a combat zone and we had to leave it, and they began bombing the homes of its residents, so we had to flee to the city of Rafah on foot, so we settled in a tent on the shore of the Rafah Sea, and the cold began, and it was not cold.

We have a home and no source of income, and at this time the Israeli army started mining Rafah and it is no longer as safe as it was before.

My brothers and I have begun to suffer from anemia and high salt levels, and our health condition may worsen.

I dreamed of completing my education and entering the field of medicine, but the war destroyed everything. We live in this war and this disaster, the worst kind of living. We lack many of the basics of life, the most important of which are treatments. Now I am suffering from hepatitis due to the pollution we live in, and here we are struggling with To survive.

My uncle set up a fundraising campaign for us to go out and save our lives, but this is expensive. I hope we stay well and can survive. Please help me spread my campaign as quickly as possible. Thank you very much❤️🙏🏼

the white western world believes the famine and death of black and brown people is integral and natural to our existence and that is why there is such little care and disregard and eagerness to portray palestine and sudan as anything but genocide

more good news from tiktok: they’ve started blocking celebrities.

they’re calling it block party 2024. just blocking and ignoring countless celebrities who havent said shit about palestine. influencers, actors, anyone who went to the met gala, whatever, they’re getting blocked. and people keep talking about how cathartic it is, how good it feels, how they never realized they could DO that. there was some kind of subconscious law against blocking famous people, but it’s broken, and people are LOVING it. and it’s WORKING. a social media/digital advertising coordinator was talking about how ad companies are PANICKING, because they can’t accurately target anymore. so many big influencers, including fucking LIZZO started talking about palestine the MOMENT their follower counts started going down. and the best part? no one is forgiving them. lizzo posted a tiktok asking people to donate to palestinian families, and all the comments just said you’re a multimillionaire. put your money where your mouth is. blocked.

i feel like i’m witnessing the downfall of celebrity culture, right here right now. people are waking up.

PEOPLE ARE WAKING UP. so many comments saying “blocking x celebrity was hard until i remembered they don’t care if i die. it got a lot easier then. they aren’t my friends, why should i feel like im betraying them?” what a beautiful thing to see

does this not fill you with immense pride and joy

hey reminder to continue boycotting eurovision and instead turn your eyes on gaza where the last media outlet al jazeera has just been shut down so that Israel can launch its attack on the most densely populated area in the world without scrutiny. Dont stop talking about Palestine

(dont put this guy on blast, i cropped URL out on purpose)

lets use this as an opportunity for learning and growth guys. By platforming Israel, Eurovision legitimizes and enables their genocide. In the same way that Russia has been banned from participating from the Olympics in an act of solidarity with Ukraine, Eurovision had the opportunity to stand in solidarity with Palestine. Instead, they have chosen to associate themselves with Israel, a violent colonial state, uplifting them to an international stage to do pr for themselves.

In the same way, all contestants in Eurovision had the opportunity to condemn Israel or call for their removal from the competition. I'm sorry because I know people get a lot of joy from the music but in a situation as dire as Palestine neutrality is functionally the same as complacency.

I ask you to boycott Eurovision in solidarity with the 34,535 Palestinians who have lost their lives in the last few months. The 77,704 who have been wounded. The 1.5 million survivors, most of them displaced and mourning, who are packed into Gaza right now. Have the empathy and willpower to be serious for like 10 seconds and recognize that you can find entertainment elsewhere.

The Israeli warplanes are carrying out intense aerial bombardments in the vicinity of the Rafah crossing.

“Umm it will actually be very difficult for universities to divest from israel and arms manufacturers without tuition skyrocketing 🤓☝🏼” why is the financial stability of a college (and the economy at large, especially in the us) so reliant on what amounts to war profiteering to begin with? Why is that an inevitability that we’re supposed to accept?
