coming up with an au were a dead character lives but shaking my head while i do it so everyone watching knows i support the role their death played in the narrative and consider it a legitimate writing choice

i am having mabel thoughts again. the way the martin house seems malicious but then rises up to meet you when you fall. They way it witnesses what sally does to mabel, and instead makes the conscious decision to love and protect its heir.

The way that hill house has places that look like they would embrace you, but are instead harsh and bitter, just like luke's mother was to him.

The way that both choose to let out their anger in different ways. hill house knows only cruelty, and resents you for your imposition, and will hold on so tightly that it will ensure you can never impose anywhere again. martin house, also accustomed to tragedy, instead responds with love and fear, and wants to hold you so tightly that it will never be alone again.

the way that juniper loved lily enough to try to save her. the way that theo didn't love eleanor enough to try.
