"There could be a whole manner of reasons why I'm smaller. But I'm still alive and that's all I can ask for with my species. Arcanine don't take well to runts and normally just abandon them or give them away for adoption. I was given away."

"WAIT."
Ayumi sternly commands, starling everyone in earshot including herself.
"I ain't gonna pretend to know what you're going through, because I don't. Just..."
Ayumi freezes in place, her mind desperately trying to catch up to her gut reaction. Sheās been on the other side of this conversation before. She knows that thereās too much to say with too little time.Ā The more she tries to put the right words together, the more tangled her thoughts get.
Ayumi leans forward, pressing her chest against the counter as if to force any words that are stuck in her throat.
"Please don't call yourself a burden,ā Ayumi deflates.Ā It's the best she could do.
Meanwhile, Rio steps forward, placing a grocery bag between her paws.
āIt wouldnāt feel right to take your money and have you leave without anything. Iām sure youāll be feeling hungry later. Make sure to take care of yourself.ā
With that, Rio and Ayumi recede to the shade. Not before Ayumi shoots a sad half-smile and a nod towards you. It seems like at least one of them needs a break.

(Allen @ Oakwen): "I hope not to pry but... I- I'm unsure of the circumstances of your blindness but the scars made me assume it wasn't with you from birth, right? I know what it's like to lose something." He moved back and forth so Oakwen could hear the creaky sound of the wooden wheels turning. "But, losing movement is so much more different to losing one's sight. How did you learn to live with it? Or is it still something you still haven't gotten over?"
"I know well that it is apart of me know but there are many things I still miss. I know my friends and my family but I know I'm not seeing them growing with me. My brother was a Dartrix last I had seen him but now he's evolved again." He paused from his rambling, looking in the general direction of Allen once more. "But do not pity us, we are no less than our able bodied counterparts. Always remember that. Difference is not weakness."

(Toasty @ Mitzi): I've heard that Education is a rather stressful field to be involved in, what with all the students and paperwork deadlines one has to deal with. How do you and your coworkers handle all the stress? Any kind of techniques or activities that you guys use to wind down after a tough time?
