Approved it again and I also removed the link to 1337X in case that’s what’s causing it to be flagged. It’s back up for now, but if it goes down again, it’s still available on 1337X (username “queerworm”).

It looks like it got flagged by an automated spam filter. It clicked Approve and it seems to be back up.

My hope at the moment is to do a second upscale of DS9 (with a newer version of Topaz that should improve results) along with a Voyager upscale at some point this winter.

I’m waiting for three reasons: (a) I want to give the software some time to improve. (b) I want to upgrade my GPU, but I'm waiting for Nvidia and AMD to release their new cards first (I’m not sure if I’ll actually buy one of the new ones, but if not, the old cards should get cheaper when the new ones are released). (c) Running a non-stop heavy workload basically turns my computer into a space heater, so I want to wait until the weather is colder so it doesn’t have to fight the AC

I’m working from the North American DVDs, which only have English audio and subtitles, so that’s what I included.

According to Memory Alpha, the European DVDs include Spanish, French, German, and Italian dubs, so you could rip those (or find a torrent) and mux the Spanish audio with the upscaled videos using MKVToolnix. You can find SRT files with subtitles for various languages here.

Note that you might run into NTSC/PAL conversion issues (almost certainly with dubs, possibly with subtitles too), as the PAL DVDs are slightly sped up to account for the different refresh rates.

If someone can point me to a torrent of the European DVDs that includes all the dubs, I’d be willing to use it to put together synced versions and a script for combining them with the upscale, but I haven’t been able to find it on my own.

I’m not 100% ruling out doing Voyager in the future, but my interest in it tends to be in transformative works rather than the show itself (e.g. I’ll read just about any B’Elanna/Seven fic I can find, but I’m not really interested in rewatching the episodes themselves), so I don’t have the same motivation for seeing it in HD that I do with DS9. I’m definitely not the only person who’s experimenting with upscaling 90s Trek, so I’m hoping there’s a Voyager die-hard out there who will do it.

My plan now is to experiment with different processes and settings (Topaz recently released a new model that’s supposed to be better about jitter) to try to improve on the initial DS9 upscale.

I also don’t plan to do another full series upscale (whether for Voyager or a second pass at DS9) until I upgrade my graphics card (which I don’t want to do until Nvidia releases their new chips).
