oh hi. i see you've wandered into my labyrinth of horrors. i'm w.s. healed, although i sometimes go by rose quarter-drifting. i make silly little posts here and publish tabletop roleplaying games as the HORIZON MACHINE.

i'm in my early 20s and i go by she/her pronouns exclusively. i'm a tactical goodness confidence queen and a very very smart girl with something like a university degree in Truth; rave reviews have described me as 'an organism hostile to all human life', 'a strange woman with odd ideas about how the world works', and 'a cunt'. i post about communism, imperialism, and ttrpgs. above all else i am on this webzone to have a nice time on the computer.

to elaborate on that a bit more clearly, ive been really feeling the pressure of like. media as talking point lately. how increasingly it feels the push of many things is less, "read or watch or play this to experience it," but rather "read or watch or play this, to say that you experienced it." art as a disposable commodity for an increasingly wide-scope keeping up with the joneses. and that's all i can see in really griping about how expensive the switch 2 stuff is. like, there's such a wide bank of video games as an art form. if they never made another you could play game all of your life for free. so why is it so bad the new ones are expensive on launch? because their function is not to be understood as a work but as a checklist.

there is one thing the deserter says, "No superiors can relieve me of my duty, you bulldozed them all to a mass grave for trying to free humanity" -- & i feel like that line expresses better than anything i could ever say why reading any history of working class & indigenous movements across latin america, of their crushing defeats and wholesale slaughters and only occasional shining victories, more than anything else maintains my resolve

that's not true! climate change is not going to 'kill everyone'. it is going to kill many people, yes, and turn many more into refugees, and cause economic disasters that will cause widespread suffering. which is why it is so vital for socialists to do the work to mobilize and build systems and organizations capable of fighting back against the inevitable fascist response to increased poverty and waves of refugees. so, y'know, assuming that by 'maintain hope' you mean, like, 'work for the sake of a positive political project' and 'envision the future', it is because i do not think anyone can afford not to.

i think that this is yknow, kind of conspiratorial thinking that's not really corroborrated by any analysis of the actual facts -- there is not a master plan here, there is a very real and powerful element here of the superstructure outpacing the base. that said i do think that a generally useful lens through which to understand what is happening in the US right now is the decline of the bourgeois state to the point where it is no longer able to act effectively as a manager of capitalism on behalf of the entire bourgeoisie, and so has now become the staging ground for a vicious intrabourgeoisie power struggle which is deeply destructive to the empire as a whole
