Unmade Man

A Fallout 4 duology—written in the style of a 40s detective noir!

1. Dead Man Talking

There are three Nick Valentines; the brilliant detective, the fractured snapshot of a grieving man and the aging Synth in Diamond City. But when a prewar woman with an impossible case demands his help, Nick is forced to confront everything he’s borrowed and everything he owes.

In the Commonwealth, a debt is one hell of a thing to forgive.

“The Institute, for whatever reason, put Nick Valentine in here. Then I wake up in a garbage dump and head out into the world. I go from odd job to odd job and finally end up playing detective. You shut your coffee maker off for a hundred years. When you turn it on, it goes back to making coffee. You want to know how I’m sure there aren’t a hundred Valentines? We’d all set up agencies.”

2. Dead Woman Walking

Two years after throwing in with the prewar hothead with an axe to grind, Nick Valentine works another routine missing persons—an overbearing father, a resigned mother and a daughter who just can’t take it anymore. Dime a dozen; up until she declares herself a synth, hops on a boat and flees three hundred miles north to Far Harbor, where Fog lays thick and hopes run slim. But between the dogged harbormen, the radioactive death cult, the machine claiming to be his brother, and his own hard-headed partner, something has to give.

It took five hundred million years to make Acadia.  The sign was a landmark, a dull green figure with gold etching. Gloria caught her breath and Longfellow fiddled with his gun. They’d leave soon, but Nick had time to kill. And Nick had to make way for the… He squinted. Three million visitors per year. The sound he made got Gloria’s attention. She read the sign, mouthing as she went. She made about the same sound. Five hundred million. Half a billion. Numbers shouldn’t go that high. A figure like that gets full of itself. The arrow on the sign pointed forward, reminding him to pay the fee. Just ahead was one of the most beautiful locations in all of North America. It was an incredible place not to see a lick of. Longfellow beckoned them after the radstag moved on. Nick took one last look at the faded landscapes on the sign and committed them to memory. Five hundred million years to make Acadia. Two hours to fuck it up forever.

sometimes I think about doing something cute for a follower milestone but the problem is for my last one what I did was announce I would sleep with doc brown from back to the future and then not follow up on that thought with anything at all, and then logged off. I think I forgot to mention the whole follower thing too. I could do the painting of my life and I don't think it's measuring up to that.

oh yeah, here's something i do to make drawing faces easier! especially for something that has to be quick, like a comic panel

initial thumbnail. what goes where, very rough. i have a very, very hard time placing features well on close-ups like these.... so i don't! i sketch the whole head, very small, then size it up and draw over that

easy guidelines!

these page's panels featuring gloria's lovely lovely eyelashes and incredibly bad temper

might as well show you both! the rare two-paneller

there have been enough inquiries into it that i am seriously, seriously considering a very limited print run of long time coming when it's over. i don't know how feasible it is, or if that's even legal (i know japan has very lax laws regarding doujin and fan comics, which leads me to believe everywhere else doesn't, plus i don't want to butt up against a billion dollar company), or even how i'd do it, but know that i am seriously looking into this. just on my side it is theoretically possible, the pages are formatted correctly, and it's at a high enough dpi... hm. hmmmm

still thinking about this but the idea is on ice for a second on account of uh. well. have you looked at the news

Confined to the post-death state of the Gutter, Gabriel Hartnett is stuck eking out a living in its run-off, a killer for hire in a job he loathes. Unable to remember his life, his face, or even his real name, Gabby bounces from gig to gig until he stumbles across somebody else’s murder. Faced with the criminal underworld, a jilted ex-girlfriend, an increasingly monstrous body, and a parade of investors eager to sell him chunk by screaming chunk, Gabby is made to confront what he is and what he ought to be. Conditions are bad, and they're getting worse. The only way out is through him.

BIOMASSE is a neo-noir black comedy, and work in progress. Please stay tuned for updates!

new pinned for my comic! it's still in the planning stages, but come check it out

i know most of you don't play warframe but you're my captive audience. you're locked in here with me etc. anyway the newest big update just dropped which comes with brand new ephemeras, which are cosmetics you apply on top of your frame. cool effects, auras. now which one you get of the new batch is a dice roll tied when your boss spawns. anyways somebody passed me by with the brand spanking new grotesque ass worm ephemera and i was so startled i dry heaved. i've only seen one person use it

i NEEEEEEEED this fucking thing

everybody i have truly incredible news. sit down. sit down with me

i have worms!

i'm riddled!

hi! i love love love the way you write nick valentine so much!! if it's alright to ask, are there certain things you keep in mind when you're writing his character?

you just write him so accurately and so well, and i've been trying to nail down his flaws and motivations and how he sees the world and have been having some trouble writing him for some reason, and wanted to know if you had any tips! thank you so much— i love your comics and your fic!! ♡♡♡

thank you very much!! and sure, it's no problem :} throwing in the caveat that this is just how i do it, and i'm no authority or anything. i just do fan stuff on the internet, and there are as many ways to write something, or somebody, as there are people to do it

out the gate i have good news and bad news. the bad news is 'oh god, is this in character?' never goes away. i get it all the time! i've never not had it!

To make up for Nick being mean to Gloria in the upcoming comic do we get to all throw rocks and stones and twigs at Nick (because he was mean)

sure! i heartily endorse pelting him with rocks and stones and twigs. going by the fic canon he's still stringing gloria along romantically too. his situationship is down to kill a man at his behest and he has the temerity to drag her into a sewer in january and yell at her. we are not seeing him at his best
