Numbers Tag Game

rules: give us the links to your fic with the most hits, second most kudos, third most comments, fourth most bookmarks, fifth most words, and fic with the least words (feel free to interpret however you would like; if not on AO3, can be on Tumblr or FFNET!).

Tagged by @rivalhughs !!!

Most hits: The Town of Anywhere, with 3493 hits!!! I’m surprised it has that many, honestly. I always thought of it as kind of a niche thing but ig people read it? (Also, I swear I haven’t abandoned it!!! The next chapter is in the works and I’ll get around to it eventually)

Second most kudos: A Burning Question, with 184 kudos! My Encanto/Disney Hercules crack crossover one-shot that I wrote in one sitting while heavily caffeinated one night.

Third most comments: Ties of Blood and Water, with 57 comments! My offering to the Hetalia fandom that I’m also surprised got as much attention as it did (also my personal favorite to reread……ngl I kinda cooked with this one)

Fourth most bookmarks: Falling, with 27 bookmarks! Another one of my one-shots, this time a ship one with AE-3803/U-1146 from Cells At Work! I’ve noticed that this fic got a resurgence in popularity recently, possibly because of the Cells At Work fandom becoming active again? (Speaking of, I really hope the live action movie comes to the U.S. eventually bc I wanna watch it so bad)

Fifth most words: Tales from the Labyrinth, with 19,336 words! A one-shot collection based in the world of my other fic Unto the Labyrinth — and a world thats canon status has been absolutely decimated by the release of Sunrise On The Reaping! Yay for me! /s

Least words: Midnight Snack, with only 228 words! A little Legend of Korra one-shot fic I wrote for a challenge.

I tag @toxic-luck, @elephant-in-the-pride-parade, @chibidashie, and @yumiribbon, as well as whoever else wants to do this!

Thank you for tagging me!!!

First Most Hits Sailor Moon H: Half-Blood Prince at 11,027 hits - Second in my horrifically long Sailor Moon / Harry potter crossover.

Second Most Kudos The Parent Trap at 318 kudos - Star Trek Voyager's J/C meet the plot of the Parent Trap.

Third Most Comments Eden's Deception at 146 comment threads - Star Trek Voyager rewrite of Resolutions as a Medical Mystery, Thriller, and angsty romance of course.

Fourth Most Bookmarks The Upturned Fortunes at 69 bookmarks (the most perfect number of bookmarks you lovely readers) - The 2nd fic in my Agatha All Along canon divergence. The divination trial with more tarot and less death. But way more hurt/comfort and angst as well.

Fifth Most Words: The Undying Heart at 145,640 words - The last fic in my Agatha All Along canon divergence series. The Seven try to take Death's powers for the selves. Agatha and her coven for the covenless are all that stands in their way.

Least Words Code Names at a whopping 88 words - a fun little Sailor Moon fic of Michiru making everyone uncomfortable.

Anonymous asked:

Hey, you reblogged that AI post and I was surprised to see something so mean on your blog. "If you cant write unassisted, fuck you, youre a disgrace to the community." Is that really something you want on your blog?

Just in case this isn't a spam message:

Posting AI-generated content to a platform intended to be an archive for writers is not appropriate use of the platform. On a platform intended for human creation, it is rude and inappropriate to clog search results with AI-produced content which often plagiarizes the work of human authors.

Use of generative AI is also horrible for our environment, leading to massive waste of fossil fuel energy and water. We should not be doing damage to our planet for the sake of generating (robot-produced, often plagiarized) fiction, especially when the joy of fiction comes from the creation and emotion of real people.

Rather than giving a prompt to a generative AI, people should consider attempting to write their own work, or asking another writer from the fandom if they would be interested in writing it. Anyone who is capable of typing a prompt into ChatGPT is capable of writing a story. The first attempts may not be amazing, but that is true of any skill, and anyone can improve with time and practice - and while ChatGPT may give you big returns in your time, it doesn't give you practice, growth, or creativity, which is where the joy of writing should come from.

To add to this, generative AI isn't an assistant for disability. Something that assists you helps you complete a task. You do the task yourself, the thing assisting you just helps you manage parts that aren't possible for you. Assisted writing could be using dictation, using a screen reader, relying on a spellchecker, typing instead of writing by hand, etc.

You aren't doing the writing yourself if you use generative AI. You're offering up a single sentence and asking a machine to steal the hard work of others so you don't have to actually write anything. The hard work you steal may well belong to people who actually need assistance with writing, and absolutely will not appreciate seeing the struggles they overcame being turned into slop for others to claim as their own.

Enjoy the creative process. Be part of the creative process. Don't become reliant on AI to the point where you can't think, create or act for yourself. This is why AI isn't an assistant. It takes independence and from you, instead of helping you realise it. It convinces you that you can't do things, instead of helping you try. It tells you to just leave it all to the machines and don't bother yourself with the fun (and struggles) of creating.

If you use generative AI, fuck you.

Generative AI generates content. That means the person using it isn't doing the work themselves. And that means it isn't a tool, it's a bypass. And it's a bypass used by lazy, entitled people who are more interested in "content" than in telling a good story. People who want headpats for being "creative" when they're so unoriginal they can't even do the work themselves.

Spellcheck, voice-to-print, screen readers, etc. aren't "AI," they're tools. They are what writers use to help capture their stories that they wrote. The writer does all the real work of creating and then uses tools to assist them in getting it down properly. Folks who try to lump it all together with shit like chatgpt are deliberately arguing in bad faith so that they can their machine-generated bullshit behind real tools that actually help.

To repeat an oft seen quote:

"Why should I bother reading something you didn't bother to write?"

AI isn't 'helping' you write. It isn't 'assisting' you. It isn't some tool for disabled people. You're telling it what you want, and it's stealing words from other sources to string together a story. All you're doing is slapping your name on it to post online for back pats and high fives.

Just as an art AI isn't 'creating' that picture for you, it's stealing bits and pieces from other artists to copy and paste it together in some semblance of a (kinda sorta) cohesive image.

I'm sick of this argument that AI 'helps' new writers or artists. It doesn't. It's actually stunting your ability to USE YOUR OWN BRAIN and come up with scenarios and stories on your own. And every fic or fanart that's posted using AI just clutters up the space for those of us who write and draw each line ourselves.

We're not being "ableist". Miss me with that bullshit. We--as in, those of us who actually write and draw with our own brains--are having a hard enough time getting eyeballs on our work, so having AI created slop filling our spaces makes us testy.

We work really hard on our craft. Don't demean it by claiming your computer generated content is in any way equal.

sad reality of the fanfic-to-published work economy is that the weirdest people are willing to do it. that's why there's now hundreds of shitty no plot cishet hate-to-love enemies-to-lovers books that are ex reylo fanfic. and it's not even good. that's because the people who wrote book-quality steve/bucky and kirk/spock fic are too normal to think to themselves "i should get this porn published". they're too busy working in local government offices

everyone I am happy to announce that the stevebucky fanfic author I had in mind while writing this post has officially reblogged it.

Look im still bad at keeping them as oneshots. Im getting away with it by calling them pre-sequel character explorations! 🤣🤣🤣

All of these and Sons of a Witch are little Agatha All Along charater pieces or slice of life things set in the 2 years after Undying Heart but before the sequel i'm currently constructing. It's been a good way for me to get a sense of how the characters are gonna change in that time. i'm thinking of posting some soon

This is little snippet from a oneshot thats almost ready to post: Rio and Billy discussing Agatha's birthday.

Fic Writer 20 Questions

Big thank you to @curator-on-ao3 for tagging me!

1. How many works do you have on Ao3?

67

2. What's your total Ao3 word count?

1,874,243

3. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

(I hadn't checked this in ages and now im kind of awed and intimidated that something i've had up for a few months beat out Parent Trap the HP Crossover after so long. I did not comprehend how ginormous the Agatha fandom was.)

Agatha All Along: Canon Divergence from Episode 5. While struggling to break Agatha free of her mothers possession, Teen releases Nicholas Scratch's spirit from the Ouija board. Nicky possesses her body alongside Evanora, fighting to free his mother from his grandmother's control. He has one request of the coven: Save Agatha.
With Death unable to capture a spirit while it remains tied to a living body, Rio must rely on the pieces of herself long buried: her skills as a witch and her knowledge of her estranged-lover if she has a hope of seeing Agatha through the trial, or their son safely returned to the spirit plane.
Meanwhile the Coven must grapple with their own truth. Will they see the good in Agatha or the bad? Will they listen to Evanora Harkness? or Nicholas Scratch?
Star Trek Voyager: Janeway and Chakotay parted ways on unfriendly terms after Voyager returned home - much to the shock of their family and crew. They had at the time two identical embryos in stasis and decided each of them would get full rights to one. Their daughters have grown up not knowing the other exists.
13 years after homecoming, all of that is about to change as a happenstance of fate - and some scheming former crew - bring Teya and Shannon together and Starfleet Juniors Summer Camp. The sisters switch places in order to meet the parent they've grown up without. But what will they do when they realize both of their estranged parents still hold a flame for the other?
Sailor Moon / Harry Potter: Mamoru's star seed is not returned to Tokyo at the end of Sailor Stars, instead, he was send back to be reincarnated into late 20th century Wizarding Britain. now the scouts must enrol at Hogwarts to find him. They soon find themselves caught up in the beginnings of the Second Wizarding War, and in the crosshairs of a certain immortality-obsessed Dark Lord. A Missing Prince is about to be the least of their problems...
Agatha All Along: The finale of The Uncharted River, The Upturned Fortunes, and The Unraveling Threads. Agatha Harkness sets out on a roadtrip with everything she never dared dream of: A coven, a boy she sees as a son, a son she can visit in the In Between, and reconciliation with the love of her life. Sure, Rio isn't with them at the moment, but Death is a busy business.
But when a week passes in their search for Tommy and Rio remains absent, Agatha begins to worry. Rio's future card looms over them. What could pose a danger to Death? More important to Agatha, how can she protect Rio against it?
Her search leads them all on a harrowing quest, to the realm between Life and Death, to places that haunt Agatha's past, and to choices Agatha never wanted to make, and never thought she'd have the strength to. Agatha's life has been shaped by grief for her coven, her wife, and her son. With all of them back within her reach, she's never had so much to lose. When the time for Judgement comes, what choices will she make?
Agatha All Along: A continuation of The Uncharted River. Our coven, now with a freshly recharged Spirit Witch who has thawed towards Lady Death, embark on the fourth trial. Will Agatha be able to handle what this trial requires after the Spirit trial has shaken her? Will the Seven catch up to the trial goers? And when Lilia Calderu looks into the future's of each of the coven. What cards will she find?

4. What fandoms do you write for?

  • Voyager
  • Prodigy

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Mhmmmm. For now, this one. but this years cohen fic is going to top this for angst.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

context: the heritage foundation is trying to launder data in support of doge by sending a survey to only their supporters and using blatantly leading questions. the survey takes less than 5 minutes and they don't verify your email

you CAN do it multiple times if you so wish

Oh good we broke the first one. New link is here, same story.

Cannot even make this shit up

Canadians and other non-Americans can play too. That sounds like the Heritage Foundation is allowing foreign interference. Everyone play along!
