#TBT 5 years ago we spoke to Issa Rae and in the conversation she pretty much predicted her HBO show as it is today. (She did not predict the billboards of her that are absolutely EVERYWHERE in LA). #INSECURE is dope Y'ALL - it’s so LA you should watch it just for that, ep3 is a killer!- and what Issa has done is an incredible achievement. #issarae #awkwardblackgirl
how involved were Solange & Saadiq in the music supervising/consulting? and what went into choosing the right music for each episode?
SUPER involved. Solange provided a bunch of options, scene by scene that she was into, and then me, Melina and Prentice would make choices. Sometimes we’d have our own suggestions for songs.
And Raphael was the composer, so he would submit drafts for the scenes we needed music, then we’d give notes. Some of the songs in our score I wish were full songs.
Working with both of them was AMAZING.
